Floyd Mayweather On What It Takes To Win

“I work my heart out to be my own boss, make my own moves.” — Floyd Mayweather

As a casual fan of combat sports (MMA, boxing), I’m a great admirer of Floyd Mayweather.

With his undefeated record (50–0) and numerous world titles in different weight classes, he’s one of the greatest boxers of all time.

For many fighters, once success is achieved the hunger to win drops. This was never the case with Mayweather. He maintained his inner fire all throughout his career despite being worth hundreds of millions at his peak.

The above 10 min. YT vid neatly summarizes the key principles anchoring Floyd’s approach in training:

  • Predict greatness for yourself
  • Aim to be the best
  • Set expectations of victory
  • Positive affirmations create a mental fortress.
  • Positive visualization.
  • Avoid complacency.
  • Set an unrivaled workrate.
  • Continuous state of training.
  • Persist when you want to relax.
  • Passion is the best motivator.
  • Instant focus is imperative.
  • Focus solely on the task.
  • Be prepared for every potential situation.
  • Never be too good to improve.
  • Appreciate all successes.

Maybe there are a few items on this list you can scale to your life.

Check it out and let me know what you think.
