The Introvert’s Corner

A Crazy Guy Stalked Me for Months and Then Vanished

I was shocked when I found out who he was

Nothing New

It was 5:30 am,

I felt rejuvenated!

The birds were chirping,

And the sun was just starting to rise.

I brushed my teeth in front of my giant floor-to-ceiling window,

Just marveling at the view of my zen garden.

Freshly trimmed bonsais and herbs everywhere,

I had finished raking the sand before dinner yesterday.

Now, everything looks so perfectly balanced.

*yawn*

Whelp, guess it’s about that time.

The First Encounter

It was time to jog.

I went and plucked Yuki’s leash from the closet,

My furry friend almost knocked me over with excitement

Whoa, chill out ha ha

I threw on my shoes.

And off we went,

A nice morning jog to get the day started.

As I’m being dragged along by a passionate beast,

I noticed a tall man sitting about 200 yards away,

In the middle of the street.

He decided to stand up once he noticed me passing by.

I stopped to be nosey.

He stood there staring at me for 30 seconds.

No words, no movement, no blinking…

weird.

I waved to be friendly,

But he just started walking towards me.

Then that walk turned into an all-out SPRINT!

nope, not today!

Immediately, I started jogging in the opposite direction.

The Jog

I have no clue what this guy wants,

But by the determined look on his face,

I don’t think I want to find out.

After about half a mile, I turned around.

He was closer, but his breath was heavy.

I could tell he wasn’t used to jogging for this long.

As I slowed down to see what he’d do,

Yuki barked at me in irritation of my pace.

So, we sped up.

I wonder if he’ll speed up too…

We circled the neighborhood vistas for another 4 miles,

Maintaining pace the whole time.

Anxiety Ensues

After a mile, I had forgotten about that strange, tall guy,

But the minute I passed by the spot of our first encounter,

I remembered him.

I stopped just before my street and waited.

I wonder if he’s okay.

He was gone. I had lost him.

*Shrug,* I guess he just couldn’t keep up.

I finish up my stretch and head inside.

What a strange guy.

I just couldn't shake the thought of him,

My mind raced with anxiety.

What did he want?

Why was he chasing me?

When did he stop chasing me?

I tried to forget.

My thoughts would keep going on and on until the next day.

The Second Encounter

I did my morning routine the same way,

Brushed teeth in front of the window,

Grabbed Yuki,

Then headed out.

And again, that guy was just standing there.

AND AGAIN,

He chased me.

AND AGAIN,

I ran,

But this time, I wasn’t going to be nice.

I plan to make record time.

After 2 miles of a fast pace,

I looked back,

He had just collapsed from exhaustion.

Immediately, I smirked,

And again, I shrugged it off.

*Shrug,* I guess he just couldn’t keep up.

What is wrong with him?

New Routine

This goes on for MONTHS,

He never speaks,

He only runs,

And then he falls.

Why doesn’t he just give up?

He’s never going to catch me.

But I’ll never forget this one day,

The last day I ever saw him.

Totally bizarre day.

I went through my normal routine (left Yuki at home),

And he chases me,

Again.

*shrug* Nothing new.

Each day,

I went a little faster,

And each day,

He’d try to keep up.

Something’s off, though…

The Final Jog

I was about 4 miles into the jog,

The fastest pace I’ve ever had.

I turned back,

And there he was,

100 feet away,

AND SPRINTING!

I started sprinting to keep the distance between us,

But he was slowly gaining on me.

What the hell is happening?

30 seconds later, I heard a thud.

*plop* Down he goes, nice try, kid.

I finished off the jog,

And as I’m about to turn on my street,

I see him rounding the corner...

HE WAS STILL CHASING ME!

That’s enough!

Frustration Ensues

I ran towards him in hopes to scare him off,

But he kept his pace.

We both managed to stop just before colliding.

We were now awkwardly face-to-face for the first time.

Why the hell does he look like me, who is this guy?

He starts smiling,

His grin stretched from ear to ear,

Then, he started crying,

Tears begin flooding his face.

Wtf…

He finally spoke,

*heavy breaths* “Thank you.” — he mumbled

“What do you want from me?!” — I asked

“I don’t want anything from you. I, only want, you.” — he said breathing in between words

He reached his hand out to shake mine,

And I just stared at it with an abundance of awkward skepticism.

This is getting weird.

Confusion Ensues

He proceeded to interrogate me.

“What is, your name!?” — he demanded

“No, what is your name?” — I demanded back

“Boysie, Boysie Gordon” — he said with a smirk

“No, that’s my name! Why are you…” — I said before he cut me off

“I have been chasing you for years.

Falling down, each step of the way,

But you didn’t notice me getting better every day?

All this time and you still don’t get it?”

My forehead contorted from the confusion.

“Now, sure, I will get exactly what I wanted,

But I at least thought you would be smarter than this.” — his last words

Just as I started to open my mouth,

He reached out and grabbed my hand to force a firm handshake,

And that firm handshake,

Was followed by a mild static shock,

That immediately dissipated like a breeze through the calm air.

I blinked, and he was gone!

I looked at my hand in awe.

“Doth my eyes deceive me?” — I whispered,

The only words my brain could muster up,

It was still stuck on processing what the hell just happened.
