Summary

A bystander recounts a humorous encounter where a driver outsmarts a police officer who pulls him over for speeding, leading to a series of comical events.

Abstract

The narrative begins with the author witnessing a traffic stop where a police officer pulls over a man driving a blue Ford Fiesta for speeding. The driver cleverly responds to the officer's questions, leading to a confrontation. The officer, amused yet irritated by the man's wit, vandalizes the man's car, only to discover that the man has been outwitting him throughout the encounter, ultimately revealing himself as the new head of police, under CCTV surveillance, and admitting he repeatedly stepped out of the designated circle during the ordeal. The story concludes by acknowledging it as a fictional comedy meant to entertain.

Opinions

  • The author finds the situation between the driver and the police officer humorous, as indicated by the title and the repeated mention of laughter.
  • The driver is portrayed as clever and composed, using humor and quick thinking to handle the police officer's aggression.
  • The police officer is depicted as overstepping his authority and becoming increasingly frustrated when the driver does not react as expected.
  • The story suggests a power dynamic where the driver, despite being initially pulled over, ultimately gains the upper hand over the police officer.
  • The author invites readers to engage with the story by asking how they might have concluded the events differently.

I Witnessed A Man Laughing At A Policeman For Smashing His Car.

It was so funny.

Introduction

I was minding my own business walking down the street, and I heard a police siren going. A blue Ford Fiesta car pulled into the side of the road with a police car directly behind it.

The policeman got out of the car and approached the guy in the Fiesta, “step out of the car, young man”, said the policeman. The guy stepped out and seemed confused.

The Incident

The policeman said “You have been speeding”, the guy replied, “So were you, because you overtook me!!!”. The policeman laughed, “You think you’re funny, do you?” “No”, said the guy it is true you were.”

“I am the police. I can do what I like,” he said, “Tell me, why were you speeding down the middle of the road?”

The man replied, “It tells me to in my highway code book.”

“Don’t be stupid, show me where.”

The man pulls out his highway code from his glovebox, opens it, points to a description, and reads aloud to the policeman, “Tear along the dotted line.”

The Policeman laughed, “Wise guy, huh, ok, son, come and stand over here on the side of the road” The policeman went to his car, pulled out a truncheon, walked up to the man's car and smashed his front headlight.

“What are you doing?” said the guy; the policeman laughed and smashed the other front headlight, too. The man ran up to the policeman, “Stop this.”

The policeman went to his car, pulled out some white chalk, and drew a circle on the ground, “Stand in this circle; if you come out of it, I will arrest you”.

The man stood inside the circle, and the policeman went to the rear of the fiesta; he smacked the rear light, and to his surprise, he heard the man laughing. He turned around and said, “What are you laughing at?” the man said nothing.

In a rage, the policeman smashed the last rear light, only to hear the man laughing again. “You're stupid,” said the policeman and decided to smash the back window of the Fiesta.

The man was in stitches with laughter; the policeman scratched his head and walked up to the man, “For the last time, what are you laughing at, man?”

But again, he did not reply.

How It Ended

The Policeman was fuming and raced to smash the windscreen; as he did, the man laughed again. The policeman pulled out his handcuffs, “If you don’t tell me what you are laughing at, I will arrest you.”

“Ok,” said the man I will tell you.

“There are three things.”

First, I have taken a new position as head of police, so technically, I am your new boss.”

“Second, I am parked under CCTV footage, as you can see from the camera above.”

“But the real reason I am laughing is because every time you turned your back, I jumped out of the circle!!!!!”

Conclusion

Ok, this was a comedy rather than a true story, but I hope you enjoyed the read all the same! Let me know if you would have ended this differently and, if so, how in the comments section below.
