I Wish It Was You
I wish it was you Who lived on the corner, But you’ve been dead for a while And I’m just a mourner.
I’ve made another friend Some of the things we do, Are things we used to do together I wish it was with you.
Who knew I’d be writing this Knowing you’re not here, But maybe you’d have stayed around If you really cared.
And who knows anything Why even bet the sun will rise? What we build will break again All thanks to suicide.
So what if this is pitiful And it doesn’t help the living? Advice on how to live my life Is not yours to be giving.
Maybe I want nothing Even if I do, How I treat myself Is not to do with you.
Nothing and nobody Has any hold on me Who ever thought your death Would set somebody free?
