I Wish I Was Wrong About This (AI Came Up With It)

From funny to sad real quick

Photo by Jakayla Toney on Unsplash

I’ll try to get to the point because I’m already tired of talking about it.

The author I never mentioned, used AI.

More specifically, I’m almost certain it was ChatGPT.

I asked ChatGPT ”Would you write something like this” and copied and pasted that author’s text between quotations.

I kid you not, the response I got was rather enthusiastic for artificial intelligence, they even continued the story for me, I was shocked (not really)– skim or skip it if you wish!

The rant begins in the last two minutes of this article — don’t waste your time reading this AI garbage — start at “Just Awful!”

“Certainly! Here’s a continuation of the story:”

(WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY CONTINUATION — DID YOU WRITE IT??)

“The very next day, Alina’s front yard was indeed a breathtaking spectacle of nature’s beauty. Blossoms of all colors adorned her garden, as if the flowers themselves were celebrating the fulfillment of her wish. Alina couldn’t believe her eyes and spent hours in awe, marveling at the vibrant tapestry that now surrounded her home.

Meanwhile, Aryan, curious and hopeful, opened his door to find a mysterious chest sitting on his doorstep. With a mix of excitement and anticipation, he unlatched the chest to reveal a gleaming treasure of gold coins. It sparkled in the morning light, and Aryan knew that his wish had come true.

Determined to fulfill his promise to help the poor, Aryan wasted no time. He distributed the gold coins generously among the less fortunate in their town, creating smiles and warmth that echoed through the community. News of the magical wishing well’s wonders spread like wildfire, and soon the townsfolk lined up, eager to try their luck.

Days turned into weeks, and the town flourished with newfound prosperity and joy. The once-dilapidated buildings received much-needed repairs, and the streets buzzed with a renewed sense of hope. The magical wishing well had become the heart of the town, a place where dreams were born and destinies altered.

As more people made their wishes, the town transformed into a haven of dreams come true. Families reunited, lost treasures rediscovered, and the town’s sense of unity deepened. Alina and Aryan, grateful for the magic that had touched their lives, continued to tend to their beautiful garden and support their community.

However, as whispers of the well’s magic reached distant lands, visitors from far and wide flocked to the town, hoping to make their wishes. The once quiet streets now bustled with the energy of eager dreamers, and the town, once a hidden gem, became a beacon of enchantment.

Yet, amidst the newfound joy, Alina and Aryan couldn’t help but wonder about the source of the well’s magic. Little did they know, a mystical guardian, invisible to the eye, watched over the well, ensuring that every wish made with pure intentions was granted. The guardian reveled in the happiness it brought to the lives of those who believed in the magic of wishes.

And so, the town continued to thrive, its streets adorned with the laughter of children, the fragrance of blooming flowers, and the warmth of a community united by the extraordinary magic of a simple wishing well.”

But I thought it was rather long so I demanded the AI to concise the story above and:

“Certainly! Here’s a condensed version:

One sunny morning, Alina and Aryan discovered a poster advertising a magical wishing well promising free fulfillment of deepest desires. Excited, they made wishes — Alina for a garden of colorful flowers and Aryan for gold coins to help the poor. Miraculously, the next day, Alina’s yard bloomed with vibrant flowers, and Aryan found a chest of gold on his doorstep. The news spread, and the town prospered with dreams coming true. However, as the town became a popular destination, Alina and Aryan wondered about the well’s mystical source, unknowingly watched over by a benevolent guardian ensuring pure-hearted wishes were granted. The town thrived, becoming a beacon of enchantment and unity.”

Now can you make the story sound more human?

“Absolutely, let’s add a more human touch:

On a sunny morning, Alina and Aryan stumbled upon this poster about a magical wishing well. It claimed to grant your deepest wishes for free, and who wouldn’t be excited about that? So, they decided to give it a shot.

Alina, being the dreamer she was, wished for a garden full of the most colorful flowers. She closed her eyes, tossed a coin, and thought, “Wouldn’t that be something?”

Aryan, on the other hand, had his heart in the right place. “I wish for a chest full of gold coins to help the poor in our town,” he said, eyes shut, coin tossed. He couldn’t help but imagine the smiles he could bring to struggling families.

To their surprise, the next day was a jaw-dropper. Alina’s front yard looked like a burst of colors had taken over — flowers everywhere. She spent hours just soaking it all in, feeling like she was in some kind of fairytale.

Aryan, well, he opened his door and there it was — a chest brimming with gold coins. He had to pinch himself to believe it. “Did the wishing well actually work?”

And work it did. Aryan wasted no time helping out those who needed it most. The town started buzzing with a newfound hope. Broken-down buildings got patched up, and you could feel this warmth in the air.

Word got around, and the line at the wishing well grew longer every day. Families got back together, lost things were found, and the whole town just seemed happier.

But Alina and Aryan, they started wondering. Where was all this magic coming from? Little did they know, there was this invisible guardian, watching over the well. It made sure that every wish, made with a genuine heart, came true.

And so, the town kept thriving. Kids laughed in the streets, flowers kept blooming, and this sense of togetherness became the town’s thing. All thanks to a simple wishing well that seemed to understand the dreams of regular folks.”

Now concise the story above!

“Alina and Aryan stumbled upon a poster advertising a magical wishing well promising free fulfillment of wishes. Alina wished for a vibrant garden, and Aryan, for gold coins to help the poor. Miraculously, Alina’s yard bloomed, and Aryan found a chest of gold. The town prospered as the news spread, but Alina and Aryan wondered about the well’s source, unknowingly watched over by a benevolent guardian. The town thrived, becoming a beacon of enchantment and unity.”

What does this mean — shoot you tell me.

All I know is that when I ran my personal stories through the AI — I asked the same question: “Would you write something like this”

There was no continuation of those stories. It kept sending me a ‘refined’ version of my story (it did a terrible job in my opinion).

The rough draft of My Juliet:

I don’t understand why you still linger in my thoughts. Our acquaintance was brief.

Raised in disparate worlds, our paths converged during the placement test. Seated beside each other in the school’s cafeteria, on a cold, white table with benches, my palms grew sweaty, my pencil hand slightly shaky from nerves.

Was it you quickening my heartbeat?

I yearned to steal glances at you, but the fear of being accused of cheating restrained me from meeting your gaze. However, a fleeting glimpse imprinted your image in my mind.

I saw you before you noticed me.

Jet-black hair, rose-tinted cheeks, and black fingernails — your style meticulously plucked from the early 2000s.

The rough draft of Evil Eyes…Fail?:

“Color me surprised and call me Dumbledore with pencil shavings adorning my nose and chin; this challenge took an unexpected turn.

The option that emerged victorious, much to my astonishment, was ‘evil eyes.’ Perhaps, I should have seen it coming after I showcased my fledgling attempts at eye sketches. It was a case of ‘expect the unexpected’ — a lesson learned in hindsight.

Despite the unforeseen twist, I welcomed the feedback graciously. Armed with sharpened pencils, I approached the next artistic endeavor with a sense of humor, ready to transform what I initially thought would be a walk in the park into a masterpiece. After all, sometimes the best creations come from the most unexpected challenges.”

Just Awful!

There was nothing to continue because AI did not write my stories. Try it with your own stories — I jumped out of my seat when I prompted ChatGPT for the truth.

I am not happy with what I found, I wonder why the hell I went looking for it…

Nonetheless, I supported that author anyway because they are probably just trying to make a living. Which I can’t blame, but at least be honest about it.

Say: This story was inspired by ChatGPT

Or

This story was written with the help of AI.

Don’t just publish it as your own like it was an original idea.

(I almost said something mean — bad Willow!!)

For those of you using AI, be honest, your audience isn’t as dumb as you think.

I can hear you –

Yes, you could add human text to diminish AI, but run that through an AI content detector and watch what you get. It’s like telling your mom you cleaned your room by sweeping everything under your bed.

She will find out and your cheeks will be as red as her dominant hand!

Though I noticed that not all detectors are accurate, this one never failed me.

AI Detector

Still — AI or not — I’ll support you as much time as you dedicate to your craft.

Let’s calculate:

  • Five seconds to Google search for ChatGPT vital assistance (assuming you don’t have it ready on the spot)
  • Six seconds to create a title and subtitle (assuming ChatGPT didn’t give you that — it could take longer)
  • Four seconds to find an image (use the built-in Unsplash, type in whatever you desire, and click on the first image that pops up, we love seeing the same shit ten times a day)
  • Five seconds to come up with the right tags (come on, it’s not that hard — right? OKAY, just ask ChatGPT for that too, I can’t be mad at you!)
  • Eight seconds to find the publish icon (it’s right there, at the top — you don’t see it? OH MY GOODNESS, CHATGPT COME HELP!!! HELP!!!)
  • Two seconds to pat yourself on the back (What a job well done, you deserve some ice cream — not mint chocolate chip, that’s for winners!)

Hmm… what does that add up to…. 30 seconds. Guys, I don’t know I might have to ask ChatGPT for this one…

Yes, thirty seconds, thank you ChatGPT!

That’s how much time I will devote to those who are too lazy to write, think, and breathe without the assistance of AI to do it for them. (I’m not talking about disabled individuals who rely on AI in their daily lives).

I’m talking about fully capable individuals who have the ability to learn but opt for the easy way instead.

There you go thirty seconds — next!

I am sorry if this offended anyone. I would advise you to stop using AI to write your articles, you will not learn if something or someone does it for you.

Trust me, as a person who was co-dependent on their mother for over fifteen years, I still struggle to be an adult, twenty-one years on this earth isn’t a long time, but I AM DOING IT.

I scheduled my own doctor appointments, ordered my own food, and found a decent college to enroll myself in. Yes, being an adult and doing things for yourself can be a challenge, but I am telling you, it is so rewarding once you become independent!

Have you ever thought about doing it yourself?

You will never learn how to become a great writer by letting AI do it for you, but I am sure that isn’t your intention.

You saw dollar signs and your brains melted into a puddle of greed and potential rewards.

Letting you know now, that there are writers who care and aren’t in it for a quick buck — they love what they do and their words are all about it.

I thought this platform was for writers who cared.

I also wonder if this is me trying to control others like someone mentioned or am I just sick and tired of the bullshit…again.

I know it’s probably both.

Time for some self-reflection😔!

If curiosity gets the best of anyone — WILLOW DID NOT SEND YOU!

I’m serious, do not harass anyone, that’s not cool.

Just bringing this one to your awareness.
