A complete nightmare

I Wish I Had Not Known About the Horrors of Professional Cleaning

After seeing this TikTok video of one’s horrifying experience, it confirmed my reasons for never being a professional cleaner.

I am always looking for ways to make extra income because, as a freelancer, you have to diversify your income.

I have some cool stuff I am working on, but it will be a while before I can monetize it thoroughly, so I am looking for various small jobs.

Whenever anyone talks about side hustle ideas on Reddit or anywhere else, you often see recommendations involving providing services for others, such as raking leaves, bartending, delivering groceries, Uber driving, pet sitting, and so on.

Sure, that can bring you some extra cash. I prefer generating income through services I can provide from home.

The work I do with my tarot readings and writing alone does not provide me with consistent and reliable income, which is why I am working on some things for the long term, but I need to do other things in the meantime.

I have noticed people have spoken about TaskRabbit in Reddit and other forums, and I did check it out as it had erroneously listed that those with administrative assistant jobs could pitch for work there.

But there were no options for that when I looked at that app.

You can do handiwork, painting, shoveling or raking, landscaping, and cleaning. No, it is not my cup of tea, and as I said, I prefer to work from home.

However, the one job I never wanted to do, even though it can be lucrative, is professional cleaning.

After watching a TikTok video by a professional cleaner talking about her worst experience, my lack of wanting to ever go into cleaning has been reaffirmed even more.

Let’s Talk About the Horrifying Tale From This Professional Cleaner

As I have mentioned several times before, I don’t go on TikTok very much as it has a lot of toxic crap on there.

However, sometimes the content can be helpful or entertaining. And sometimes, I do land on some good videos.

Quite recently, I landed on a video created by a professional cleaner as she was answering someone’s question to her: “What is the grossest encounter you had with your job.

She said she becomes so disgusted whenever she recalls this incident that she wishes to block it out. Then she warned her viewers that what she was going to discuss was so beyond horrific that it could ruin their day.

Since I am a glutton for punishment, I could not help but listen. My curiosity gets the best of me, and … it did this time too.

She talked about how she cleaned a vacant military home as no one had occupied it for three to four weeks.

As soon as she entered the house, she said the smell was so horrific that she had no idea where it was coming from.

My first thought was, “damn, she found a decomposing body.” And that is one of the reasons I would not want to do any professional cleaning. The last thing I ever want is to encounter that.

So she went to the kitchen and sniffed around there. The smell was not coming from there.

She went into the bathroom, and there was only one and no smell. She even went to the floor, smelled the carpeting, and sniffed. Nope, it wasn’t coming from there.

However, the smell was getting stronger as she approached the laundry room, and the door was closed.

But since the smell was intensifying as she entered the laundry room, she hesitated to open the door, but she was hired to clean this home, so she had to.

As soon as she opened the door, the smell was so foul that she was on the verge of running away.

But she had to soldier up and deal with it. She looked in the dryer, but there was nothing. The smell was not coming from the dryer but from the washing machine.

Once she opened the washing machine, she had a highly disgusted look on her face and said, “I found it.”

I thought she found a body tucked away in the washing machine until she said what it was. It was not a body. It was a pile of….. vomit!

She said there was a load of vomit in the washing machine, and she was not sure what to do, so all she could do was do several hot rinse cycles.

She had no idea why there would be so much vomit in the washing machine, but her thinking was since there was one bathroom and before the occupants left the house, they likely had a massive party.

So the washing machine was the next best choice if the guests had to be sick and the bathroom was occupied.

No, I Will Never Be a Professional Cleaner

Well, not only do I fear seeing a dead body, but I am emetophobic, so I have the same reaction when it comes to vomit.

She confirmed my reason for never being a professional cleaner based on her experience.

And to make it even better, when I looked in her comment section, she had another professional cleaner comment to say that she walked into a home she had to clean where there WAS a dead body!

The creator replied, telling her that was her worst fear. No one can ever pay me to be a professional cleaner.
