We are starting the new week and the 2nd week of 2024. Those of you who have followed me here for a considerable time know I am an avid runner. I did, however, take a break this month from it. Mostly, this is due to the activities of first starting with my birthday, then Christmas, and my kids being away from school for two weeks. My mom usually watches my boys while I am at work, but I had decided to take over for the two weeks I was off.

My oldest son requires a lot more attention due to his autism and other cognitive issues. It is not easy for me to take off and run for an hour due to his challenges. I get my miles in when I can.

Everything is now returning to normal. The kids are going back to school, and I am going to get back to running for the new year. I am going to ease into it, but usually, it doesn’t take me too long to get back into the swing of things.

My youngest son runs with me on most of our 5k adventures, and I wonder what the 2024 season will bring to us. Due to his autism, he cannot run on the cross country/track team; therefore, I set a spring/summer schedule for him to run. I run beside him by giving him directions and guidance throughout the race.

Soon, I will return to the familiar territory and run along the same streets I have been running on since I was a young child, but first, I must get my earphones fixed at the Apple Store. Cold weather is here in Michigan, and we are at the peak of it. I had too many close calls with slipping on ice, and running in frigid temperatures is not necessarily my idea of fun; therefore, it is treadmill season for the next few weeks.

I will run. I will run far. It will bring me nourishment. Bring it all to me.
