I Will Be Sharing Chapters From My Next Book On Homelessness

Straight out of my own experience as an ex-homeless-addict

If you were allowed to be born again, would you live the same? Or would you try to live better?

It is what lights up my heart daily after having survived homelessness, alcoholism, and drug addiction. Life has given me that second chance after almost being declared dead. I have returned to seeing and feeling every day as a second chance I do not want to waste.

I have contemplated writing this book for a while- not because I feel like a writer, but because a bad experience can be communicated and shared so that others do not fall into the same trap or make the same mistake.

My story is not unique, but what is remarkable is that I have recently seen many fall into the same trap of homelessness. Like a domino reaction, this unleashes a stampede of problems and fatal consequences due to what one exposes oneself to in that unfortunate situation.

But what motivates me most to write is the high rate of deaths due to alcohol poisoning and overdoses in the rapidly growing homeless community.

Of the one hundred percent of individuals with whom I shared homelessness, ninety percent died from some tragic situation or were unable to maintain long-term sobriety.

And this is my most significant rational discovery: Those who failed to stay sober and remained destitute did not have a great reason, an anchor, or something to hold on to in their trials and despair.

In my time as a homeless person, which was about half a decade, I tried in many ways to get out of my situation and free myself from addictions. I tried every kind of professional help available, such as detoxification and recovery programs, without any success.

Only that night, in the streets’ solitude, I cried out to God for a supernatural miracle. I felt I had no alternative but to kneel and cry to the highest power. To the God of the impossible. I needed the miracle of redemption.

And from that night, miracles began to happen in my life.

“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.” — James 4:8

I found the key to getting out of homelessness and freeing myself from addictions. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel. The closer I got to God and learned his ways, the stronger I became.

For those trying to figure out why homelessness is increasing, I will show you my experience with the most vivid expression possible so that you can understand a little of what it feels like to be homeless and how to help them.

I warn you that it will be an emotional experience you will never forget. And every time you see a defeated homeless person on the streets, remind yourself that miracles can happen and that not everything is lost.
