I Will Always Need You, Mom

No matter our age, we always need our mother

Original Poetry on Paper by the Author

I will always need you, mom! The rebellious teenager in me is long gone. Who tagged you, an arch nemesis. And frowned upon your concerned advices.

I regret my nasty behavior, which you handled with a cool demeanor. I mistook your ways to be ancient. Ricocheted your every injunction, and threw an equal and opposite reaction.

How I disregarded your precious counsel!? Call it na·ive·té or insolence Those were my years of teen turbulence.

I couldn’t discern, your trespassing sprouted from a motherly instinct of protecting.

The tempest has now mellowed down ‘not sure whether I have grown or the impeding layers been pruned upon

I now comprehend your sterling solicitude, the invisible bubble of immense magnitude, never depleted of selfless love, courage and fortitude Please accept my gratitude! Mom, I will always need you.

Whenever life kicks me downhill I look upto your impeccable counsel I feel myself novice, still no matter how old I age, I yearn to be your little girl again and snuggle up in my cozy cocoon My life’s brightest beacon I will always need you mom!

Your most empirical essence? You never failed me once!

I was a typical teenager, full of tantrums. I thought my mother was my number one enemy. She was always correcting and guiding me, with my best interest in her heart. I did not realize it then. But now after crossing life’s weary road, I have come to an enlightenment that a mother’s love is truly unconditional. We can never repay her. Her every breath is for her children. Today, she is my best friend, mentor, confidante. I will always be her little girl. Love you, mummy!
