I Was Told

When a young girl listened to her future self

its been quite a long time you had not stopped looking at your phone she said — that little girl — to him (her dad)

he threw the phone immediately on the table he was frustrated looking at the phone but could not see the possibility that he could just drop it he felt relieved of a burden “What shall we do” — he asked “anything is better and kinder” — he thought to himself

“I wanted to drop the phone but…” she interrupted: I knew you could not help it so I waited and tried to do something else until you would care about my presence but after some time I felt you needed a little push

“How did you know” — he asked her

because I was told to support you but in a gentle way

“who told” he asked “I don’t know it was a big girl but looked like me (future self)” — she replied

he wept inside and smiled outside and gifted her his presence for the rest of the day as a thanksgiving for helping him and forgiveness for ignoring her
