I was sceptical about buying an iPad but I was wrong.
I am a student who has got my Smartphone (from One Plus) and a Laptop (from Dell). Then, why do I need an iPad when I can pretty much do most of my work using my Smartphone (for Multimedia purposes) and my Laptop (for coding/project works)?
Note that I don’t own any other Apple product and so buying an iPad doesn’t enable me to complete any circle of fulfilling my dream to be in some Apple Ecosystem and making the workflow much easier (Pretty sad life, huh?).
Well, it isn’t all doomy (Yeah, very obvious by the title of this post, I get it ;) )
There is a dramatic story on how I got myself an iPad without even really wanting to buy but hey, we don’t want to delve into that story right now.
The iPad I’m owning is an iPad Air 2019 with 64 gigs of storage. Initially, it was pretty much a machine for binge-watching shows, YouTube Videos and several other forms of media (Big Screen and handy, who doesn’t like it). But, I was curious about the Pre Installed apps (made by Apple) that come with the iPad (and other iOS devices as well, yeah) and started exploring them all (doing justice for the money spent, I’m rational).
I have been using this app called “GarageBand” which is used to make Music (Apple describes it as “make great music anywhere” ) and it is true as to how Apple describes it. I have to confess here that I’m not new to making some meh — sounding music using FL Studio (software used for making beats and music) in my Laptop but it was utterly uninspiring for me to work in it (subjective!).

But GarageBand was/is more exciting to use (Subjective claim again, I know!) which in turn made me and makes me do more Music Stuff than I have ever done before. I love how it has got everything an Amateur Musician like me cares about and it is much easier to use. I have tried many apps such as Caustic, FL Studio Mobile (In Android) in past which were nothing close to how much capable and convenient GarageBand is. These apps discouraged me from doing something about the Music stuff and using GarageBand, I find myself exploring more of my talent. (Later I found out that the android devices doesn’t support Low Latency, unlike Apple Devices which is the main reason why Apple Devices have lots of Audio Production related apps.)
Another app that I found quite useful was “iMovie”. I had/have less experience in Video Editing and iMovie was quite helpful in initial stages to discover my passion for shooting a video and editing it. I started making Cover Videos for Songs and GarageBand + iMovie together was much useful for me though, after a point, it’s limitations started bothering me. Nevertheless, it is a great app to start. (Now, I’m using GarageBand + iMovie + InShot for this purpose. LumaFusion is a more capable app but it is an overkill for me and also paid !).
I know this whole use case of iPad covers only a section of people who care about making music or Vlogs but before getting my hands on my iPad, my interest in Music Making was long lost and I had no idea that this iPad will help me rediscover it. I might have never had the motivation to do Cover Videos if I had not got an iPad.
You may have a hidden talent or an idea on something and I think that an iPad (not any other Tablet FYI) will be of a great tool to supplement it.
It is not that Android does not have great apps for all the stuff I have mentioned but, with an iPad, all the tools that one need to get started come pre-installed (made by Apple, optimized, pretty good too) and so the confusion over searching for the best tools in Android Platform which is a never-ending one (at least for me!) killed the very process of the objective for which I was searching them.
P.S: This entire post is created using my iPad in “Notion” and I wish Apple had sponsored me to write this :/
