I was diagnosed with ADHD… Part III

Jean Campbell in her blog has said it best, “ADHD Isn’t Quirky & Funny…”
I have lived all my life with ADHD and never knew what the symptoms were until I was 28 years old and things started to get more chaotic in my life. I started losing sleep, losing track of time, underestimating tasks more often and was just overly agitated about the simplest of things.
Everyone around me, as Jean Campbell has outlined in her blog, people seem to think that because we are gifted and have good social skills so we might not have ADHD. This is exactly how most of us with ADHD feel; misunderstood.
I spent days and nights feeling insecure about myself, confused about my future, feeling like I could be great but with every task, I fell farther from greatness. As a young adult male living in Jamaica, I was expected to be a macho man, and I did during the days but I cried at night.
I have never felt suicidal thankfully, but sometimes I do wish I was never born; never having the chance to face this ugly, chaotic and challenging world. I try to be optimistic about my future but my days of failure hit harder than the average human so I tend to be so pessimistic most days.
I recently migrated and have started studies in a new field. This was in an effort to get away from my previous job, my friends, and my family. I needed to do this so that I could get a chance to find myself; to connect with my inner peace. I love my friends and family dearly but I found out that having them around all day every day was too toxic and draining sometimes.
This is who I am now, and now that I know what has been causing me to feel so awful about myself, I get the opportunity to correct it in the best ways I know how. I have to be there for myself, and look in the mirror every day reminding myself that I am worth it! I am worth everything I have achieved, every hurdle I have crossed, and every peace that I have found.
All of you living with ADHD, whether diagnosed or not… You ARE Worth IT!
Like, share and follow my journey to greatness…
