I Was Blind For A Week; So Scared Was I!
Sometimes Your Body Knows Better Than Your Brain

While I am better now, and can see, my body let me know that I was doing way too much, as my last article can attest to:
What Happened?
I was stressed out for sure. I had taken an online conference starting on July 15 and it went until July 17. I was so pumped from that conference that I created an hour long video on #SlappingDownTheStickers in a new planner. I figured out my week of July 18 through 24 and was all set to go.

I managed to write those five chapters on Tuesday, July 19. I wrote 20 reviews, 10 for Monday and 10 for Wednesday for Amazon.
Wednesday Pain: I Wanted to Rip My Eye Out
I woke up the morning of July 20 with such excruciating pain, I was moaning in my sleep. My left eye was dry and crusty, and I felt like there was sand under my eyelid or in my eye.
I live in the desert, so I always have eye drops and drops for “wetting” the eyes, plus I take medication that can cause dry eye or dry mouth. There was little wind the last few days, and I was mostly inside, except for one evening out to eat. All of those factors did not make sense as to why I wanted to RIP MY EYE OUT.
I woke up my husband and asked him what drugs (over the counter, of course) should I take? He asked me what was hurting and I said my eye. Two tablets of Benadryl (generic) and two Tylenols (generic) later, plus at least three drops of wetting fluid, one which managed to hit my eye, I went back to sleep.
I never have pain. I mean NEVER. Not anymore. I used to have that horrible monthly pain, but after early menopause I no longer had such pain again. I do not have headaches nor aches of anything other than the occasional twinge of my back from lifting something too heavy. Nothing major.
But this, WOW! I could not LOOK at a computer screen, a phone screen, or even my beloved planners without pain. I had so much to do, if I was to help my husband, Sasha, with our CamperVan, finish my book, and start typing it out, and all the other things, including being on Medium.
MY BODY Took Over MY Mind
My body told me to stop working so hard. I had five, long days of basically stopping all work, except for a client’s social media and blog post on Friday, July 22. This was also Sasha’s birthday, and I did not even get on social media to wish him a happy birthday. I told him in person, but all I did was sleep, the meds took me out.
How Can You Be Blind And Then Not Blind?
A disclaimer: I was not blind in the truest sense, without sight. I was able to see when I opened my eye, but OPENing the eye was painful.
I believe I had a stye, which is an inflammation of glands of the eyelid. If I had had redness, it meant it was infected, but that was not the case. As a matter of fact, when Sasha looked at my eye, he could see no redness at all.
There was no point to going to the doctor if it was not infected. They would just tell me to do what WebMD and MayoClinic tells you to do:
- lay down and put warm compresses on your eye.
- Wash your face.
- Take pain or allergy medications, oops, I took both.
- Sleep as much as possible.
- Wait it out.
- Do Not get on the computer, as the light from the screen hurt me eye, when I could open it.
Today, July 24, 2022
I feel much better. I lost a week of working on my memoir, getting ready for our trip and helping my husband. Plus, all of the other things I was going to do.
My body was more in tune with what I needed to do. I was totally too stressed to realize it myself, and only Sasha and my Mom could tell me to slow down.
Yesterday, I started planning our route to go across country to go East and visit family and friends. I started handwriting the directions because some of the places do not have internet access AT ALL.

I used Google Maps. You can only put 10 points down before the maps start wigging out on you. I called it quits three hours in. I am not good at planning a route, I am more of a wing-it and see what happens kind of person.
Instead, this week I will do what I do best: Organizing and Planning
- Plan my week in my planner(s)
- Write a list of clothing and accessories to pack
- Write a list of medications/toiletries/first aid to pack
- Write a list of electronics to pack
- Write a list of craft and planning items to bring
- Charge all the electronics to 100 percent
- Move all my pictures and videos to my external hard drive
- Move my articles, spreadsheets, and memoir written so far to my laptop
- Make a list of the food and drinks we will bring
- Add all the names of new subscribers to my Excel spreadsheet (CRM) and start reading followers’ posts.
I want to thank everyone who has read thus far, and I especially want to thank my subscribers and followers. I will be changing my Kanban board and my planner, and I have some new adventures to create starting in August.
