I Was A Christian For 24 years. Here Are 3 Reasons Why I Avoid Dating Christian Men Now.

Carl Lentz Is Not The Reason! I’m Talking Based On Experience.

Christian men often need saving, and baby, I ain’t no Jesus!

I’ve been a staunch Christian almost my entire life. The brainwashed colonized African type. Raised to believe that Christianity was synonymous with civilization, and progressiveness.

I was taught that my ancestors were burning in the eternal flames of hell just because they worshipped differently.

Consequently, I believed Christianity was THE WAY, and THE ONLY WAY to Connect To God.

These days, I don’t have much of an appetite for Dogma or Doctrine.

I’ve outgrown them.

Over the last couple of years, I’ve become more invested in connecting to The Creator on my own terms. In ways, that are more resonant with my inner being.

Whenever I tell people I’m no longer Christain, they’re often surprised because I spent two years of my life in a Seminary studying Christianity & Faith alongside many of my fellow Seminarians who are now Pastors and Clergy.

For me, I’d rather burn a church down, than preach in one. (I kid. I kid. I don’t mean literally, but metaphorically. SHIT, I would! LOL)

I believe it’s been one of the greatest tools used in the manipulation of Black and African People All over the World. (The version given to us, was meant to enslave us spiritually, no matter how you choose to look at it. Most Black people are in a toxic relationship with Religion.)

It’s OK if you disagree with me. I’m ok with that.

Anyway, Here’s Why I Stay Clear From The Typical Christian Male —

Most Christian Men Typically Hide From Their True Selves.

Christian men don’t often confront their shadows or dark sides. Hence, they never face the full spectrum of their being.

On one hand, they proclaim they’re sinners.

On the other hand, they adopt a self-righteous identity of being “Good”, simply by being a follower of Jesus Christ, attending church, and reading the bible.

The painful truth I’ve experienced is — Most Christian men rarely do any real inner work that leads to the true transformation of their hearts.

Instead, like a Netflix subscription, they subscribe to a religion and hide their true selves behind superficial practices like reading bibles and attending church services.

But the thing about Life is — you can never outrun your shadows. They’re with you everywhere you go.

Most Christian Men Often Lack Accountability

The Traditional Christian faith completely externalizes God and the Devil.

As a result, when Christian men make mistakes or indulge in negative behavioral patterns, they’re quick to blame the “DEVIL” Or “THE ENEMY”.

They rarely ever take responsibility and accountability for their own behaviors.

It’s always someone’s fault apart from theirs.

These types of men, cheat on you, abuse you, and turn around to blame “the Jezebel”, or “the Devil”.

It’s sickening.

One of my exes used to cheat on me all the time with multiple women and come back to pray with me.

He’s currently with another woman he shares a child with. But I know he’s still cheating. It doesn’t matter that — he wears his thin gold chain with a gold cross around his neck, goes to church on Sundays, reads the bible, and goes for weekly bible studies.

But hey! He’s a sinner after all, forever seeking God’s forgiveness.

Below, is another example of how Christian Men often blame the devil for their own despicable behaviors.

Most Christian Men often Participate in Biblically Sanctioned Misogyny and Sexism.

They just can’t help it.

They often think of themselves as superior to women. As God’s primary creation.

Don’t be surprised to find them affectionally referring to their wives as their “rib”. ** So cringe**

They make sure to live out their beliefs that women are God's secondary creation. A creation, one step beneath them.

To them, Women were created just to please “Man”.

Disgusting.

If you’ve read the bible in-depth, as objectively as possible, then you’ve probably come across oppressive patterns towards women in the “Holy Book”

In the Old Testament —

Misogyny is often linked to other forms of bias. Ethnicity and gender are intertwined in the representations of foreign women as especially sexual, engendering both desire and danger. The Moabite women (Num 25), Rahab (Josh 2), and Tamar (Gen 38) are all examples of this trope.

These days, when I hear women say they’re looking for a “Good Christian Man”, I chuckle with laughter a bit.

The fact that he’s Christian ( Believes in Jesus Christ, Goes to church, reads the Bible, and Prays to Jesus) doesn’t automatically make him “Good”.

For me, the contents of someone’s character speak louder than their religious affiliation.

What do you all think?

Is religion a deal-breaker for you in a relationship?
