I Want To Touch The Sun!
A Poem
No, I am not Icarus, Fixing upon myself, Wings with wax, A short flight towards light.
I really want to touch, The burning piping hot, Sun with not my hands, I am not that dense.
The thing is I yearn, But I still want to earn, You see when I was small, It was the brightest fruit in the sky.
The yellow mushiness, Inside the biggest, Alphonso you can find, In our solar system.
I don’t want to devour it, But it really is the biggest, Thing out there, Which is so close to us.
Like everybody wants to go, To Burj Khalifa, And get themselves clicked, I want to do the same with Sun!
You see humans like, The biggest, the shortest, The tallest, the longest, Obsessed with superlatives.
That’s the reason, Guinness World Record exists, With the most mundane, And the most mind-blowing records.
We always to explore the, Boundaries of anything, We can get our hands on, Golden fruit is same for me.
I won’t devour it, Like Hanuman, In Hindu mythology, I just want to touch.
Just like you want to pet, That big, cute dog on your block, I want to pet the biggest, Burning ball on this solar system.
I want to put the mystery, To bed of how it sustains, They say a chain reaction, Of fusion keeps happening.
I really want to check that out, While humans are getting there, On a scale so small you would laugh, But it’s not a laughing matter.
It is a moment to be proud, When we harness the power, Of Sun, the generator of life, For all of us who breathe on this Earth.
But, still I yearn to touch, The Sun, the golden sphere, Out there just one hop away, If I was like Easter Island statues.
If I can’t touch the Sun, That is completely fine, I would create the power, Of Sun inside myself.
I shall harness each drop, Of blood and invigorate it, With the fire of my passion, I would become Sun myself.
I don’t plan on burning, Anything though, Neither I want Hydrogen, Fusing in me though.
But I would be really awesome, If I could fuse Hydrogen inside me, I would end up with Helium, And that would make my voice funny.
I don’t the easy way, I guess, I could just take a balloon though, And enjoy that high-pitched, Childlike/childish voice all to myself.
But I don’t plan on any of that, Just a thought is enough, To create a revolution, I therefore strengthen my resolution.
To build tenacity like Sun, To have the most excruciating, Heat producing reaction, In the universe.
And still hold my form, My back straight, My eyes filled with passion, And my pen scribbling poetry.
I would not, therefore, Touch the Sun, I would become it, I would become it.
