Why can’t I comment on Medium stories?

I’ve read numerous articles on Medium in the last week. I have no problem clapping for the ones I like. It’s a whole different story when I try to comment or even read the comments.

As soon as I click on the comment icon, I’m sent back to the top of the page. It especially pisses me off when someone has five articles pinned above the one I’m reading. I then scroll back to the article, and the same thing happens.

Is anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix that I’m not aware of?
