I want to know why?

A poem based on a writer’s prompt

Photo by 胡 卓亨 on Unsplash

I want to know why …?

birds fly.

fish swim.

water flows.

people cry.

I want to know why…?

you are sad.

why you smile.

what turns you on.

what turns you off.

I want to know why…?

people gather in hate.

throw stones in glass houses.

love their pets, but not their neighbours.

I want to know why…?

People laugh till they cry.

fools rush in where angels fear to tread.

a rising tide lifts all boats.

beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Thank you for reading my article.

The “I want to know why…?” writer's prompt is written in response to Day 10 of a 30-day writing practice course I am doing as part of my morning routine. It’s fun. Check it out here: Writing As Medicine For The Soul by Joanne Fedler
