I Used To Know A Ghost
I even knew her name.
The Ghost
I used to know a ghost I even knew her name The ghost was me The me I used to be But I still loved her all the same
I often saw her lurking around Silently in the shadows of the night Reminding me of who I used to be Transparent and traumatized Pale in the light Running and terrified Always afraid
Of what she might find If she looked into the pain That had taken up residence In her very own mind
One night I thought to sit down with her I hoped she could bare She knew I was there A silent friendship Was then born A relationship formed And so we sat But we did not chat
We sat for the longest time Cloaked in darkness Coming back together as one Showered with universal acceptance A beautiful peace Blanketing my oceans of grief Of the circumstances And all the situations Where I never had a say I never had control anyway
The ghost I used to be She is now a part of me
