I Used To Feel Bad About Being Fortunate In life, But Then I Realized This
“Today and every day it is my desire that what life has given to me so abundantly shall be shared with others.” Ernest Holmes
There are times when I see the pain and suffering in the world and wonder why. Why do some people have such hard, oppressive lives while I have an easy, fortunate life? They don’t deserve that pain so I think I don’t deserve joy.
This logic is flawed for a couple of reasons. One, their pain is not because of me, so there is little I can do to stop it. And two, my pain and suffering won’t make them feel better.
A healthier and more productive way of dealing with these feelings is to find ways to share the abundance of my life with others.
Giving can come in many forms, money and things are just some of the ways to give. The more we give of ourselves, in the way we act and treat others, allows us to share our gifts and blessings with the world.
Greed comes in when we hoard all good things for ourselves and fight against others to get more. When we look to share and give when we can, we help others while improving the world.
Being rich and happy and successful isn’t bad, as long as it’s shared with others.
Even if we aren’t rich we have plenty to give to the world, the more we look to share the more we can give.
Instead of feeling guilty about my life, I’m using it to help others, in any way I can.
