I feel like we should have ordered more for the experience. It was still a lot of food though. I thought about the regular Chinese food I ate. It didn’t seem like a huge difference. I Tried Nyonya Cuisine For The First Time in Melaka

I didn’t even know there was such a thing!

Everyone seemed so excited to try Nyonya cuisine when I was in Melaka. I only knew we were going to eat something different. Hey, I’m all for trying a new place! This was my first time in Melaka and I loved exploring everything. Besides, this place looked so cute. The patterns underneath the name of their restaurant were very pretty.

Later, I learned that “Nyonya” referred to women belonging to the Chinese community of Peranakans. Nyonya cuisine includes a mix of Chinese, Malaysian and Indonesian cooking. Lots of delicious spices and herbs are used in the cooking process. I can see how this would lead to a lot of creative ideas for the dishes!
