The Results I Made From Journaling For Three Months

How Journaling changed me

In the past year, I felt overwhelmed by new life events. I was preparing for my high school graduation, I was studying very much, I was looking for a job, saving money…..

What I mean is it was hard for me to keep track of everything at the same time, I was getting tired of the ton of things I had to do every day.

plus the situations I had to deal with every now and then (obviously because there is no life without drama)

I had to remember things, I had to write down them because I could forget them easily.

So I heard and read about the benefits of journaling, and I saw my favorite YouTuber doing it, I thought I had to try.

How I journaled

Well, I didn’t answer these journaling questions, which are now my biggest regret. I just wrote everything about that day, something that came to my mind, something that frustrated me, I tried to break it into small pieces, and I asked why every time I answered.

Example: I was angry because I had a fight with my sister

Why?

because she frustrated me

Why?

Because she said something that wasn’t true

Why did you become frustrated?

I think her words do really hurt

Why?

Because I really think that my sister is my other half, she shouldn't be thinking like that

And so on

Now you get to the root of the problem, it may not be because of you, but the reason why you react in a certain way is definitely YOU.

Another way is writing down what happened, what I have to do (most times in a list form), and what I have done.

There was soooo much going on in my life then, I just had to release, it because this was my first time being in such a position.

How writing down my life events every day helped me:

  • I was forgetting and ignoring the negative outcomes of specific events
  • I felt less stressed and anxious
  • I focused on things I had to get done
  • I wasn’t feeling overwhelmed anymore, I just lived peacefully

I also wrote what I felt, I did that before going to bed.

I felt like my head was empty, this was MAGIC.

It became an obsession, even if I was deadly tired and sleepy, I HAVE to write. It felt like an obligation.

The next thing you should include in your journaling is writing about the things you are grateful for, now this has a lot of benefits:

  • You are not drawn to worldy temptations anymore
  • You feel the value of life
  • You feel like the richest being in the world, you have food, water, shelter, and Your body is working
  • You are breathing

Example: you have lost a finger due to an accident, it was traumatic, but then you think, but I didn’t lose my body functions, I didn’t lose my brain function, I’m grateful, I’m content.

Being content is the key to happiness. This world is full of materialism. You won’t escape it till you recognize the situation you are in. So, when we think of people having it much worse, we get ashamed, why are we even grieving over silly little things? Why am I crying because I didn’t get my driver's license? See here, now it seems silly. It’s not the end of the world.

Conclusion:

Reconsider journaling. Try it for one day, I will ensure you will sleep very well. I had so much going on in my life and this was the best thing I did to help me through. So instead of lying in bed overthinking about why the random stranger in the grocery store stares at you like that, write it down, you will forget it because you didn’t think of it, and you released it.
