I Tried and Failed. Here’s Why I’m Back To Writing Online.
And why being part of a community has been the best decision I’ve made.

The first time I wrote online was sometime in 2008, on Facebook.
I didn’t know what I was doing or what would become of my efforts to share my thoughts and stories. Like a child with nothing to lose, I just did it. No overthinking. It was great. Fulfilling even…until it wasn’t.
You see with little knowledge and a penchant for mistakes, I took all the wrong turns and spent many years frustrated and burned out.
This is a do-over. 🚀
I recently signed up for Dickie Bush and Nicolas Cole’s cohort-based course, Ship 30 for 30.
Here are a few reasons why:
📌 I needed a kick in the pants. While I know I’m a driven and disciplined person, I’ve also learned that it takes more than willpower to stick with a thing until it succeeds. This time, I’m not relying on my half-baked assumptions about my stick-to-it-iveness. I’m leaning on proven methods and ideas that have worked for others.
📌 I do have something to say after all. For many years, I told myself the reason I didn’t succeed on my writing journey was because I didn’t really have anything to say. I’d create a plan for writing weekly and then run out of ideas…because I had nothing to say. I was wrong. I do have something to say. Over the past ten years, I have…
- started and failed at an e-commerce business
- launched and gave up on a podcast
- published 3 books
- run writing workshops
- worked for a digital marketing agency and
- started my own freelancing business.
I have failed a lot and succeeded a little, not to mention gone through some pretty difficult times in my personal life. So yeah, I do have something to say.
📌 I’m excited to connect with other writers, creatives, and entrepreneurs. The creative journey can be isolating so having a community of people who get you is a treasure. I’m hoping to connect with like-minded people on this adventure.
Over the next 30 days, I plan on writing about
- lessons learned on my creative journey
- navigating life as an introvert
- and living by faith.
Join me on this adventure and if anything here resonates with you, I’d love to connect. 🙋🏾♀️
I’m excited to start sharing again!
Curious. Have you ever given up on something you really wanted to succeed at? Do you plan on starting over? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences.
