I Took A Break Yesterday Because of Negative Energy Coming My Way

Sometimes this whole social media blogging thing can get out of hand

Ignore it.”

Don’t engage with them because attention is exactly what they crave.”

Write about it and that way earn a few bucks at their expense.

I have been on this platform for 2 years. I am not a novice to attacks in the comments section or negative energy coming my way.

Par for the course.

Each time I hit a stride in my writing, it seems to get worse, not better.

I am not immune to it probably because I’m an empath. I am sensitive to changes in energy despite the digital divide between myself and my reader.

I have to say it has become worse since the latest algorithm changes that have thrust writers like myself (community builders) into the limelight.

This is not a complaint. Instead, it is a genuine question of why we can’t try to get along.

I personally don’t go around comparing myself to other writers or looking to bring down others. I don’t send out negative energy because I know from experience that it will backfire on me.

Karma can be a b*tch and I don’t want any part of that when she comes calling.

If you read my latest, you can see that unlike my other posts where I’m quick to respond and answer any questions my readers have for me, I have chosen not to do so. It is not because I don’t have gratitude or appreciation for my audience, it is my way of acknowledging my hurt and disappointment of how I perceive matters to be.

The experts say you can’t control others, only yourself. My question will be why are other people so sensitive to online attacks on their self and the choices they make but don’t think twice about delving out the same to others?

Hypocrites, much?

Or is it simply a case of my sh*t doesn’t smell but yours does. Big time.

I am a romance/relationship writer and I have built my audience around this niche both here and on Substack. I am not ashamed of it because this is a niche my audience chose for me.

In my opinion, that is the greatest honor a reader can give a writer.

My niche has given me a strong voice that is able to bring forth new ideas, topics for discussion, and growth among new writers through the sharing of my writing experiences as well as driving traffic to the nonprofits, including pediatric cancer, where I do pro bono writing.

In other words, I am too busy promoting change in a positive way rather than wasting my time wondering why he or she is doing so well when I can most definitely write ‘real’ stories that are so much better than ‘hers.’

My response is why don’t you let the readers be the judge of that?
