I took 4 trains for my first job!

This was my job-job. I tried my luck with SUBWAY before this but barely lasted a week. I never worked in a kitchen and barely remembered to make sandwiches. Anyways, I got this job after a month or two which was located at East New York-Cypress Hills neighborhoods of Brooklyn, NY. I had to take four trains to get there.

Was there another option? Yes! I could have taken a ‘two-train’ route but that required me to go to Manhattan and transfer to the second train. I wasn’t going to risk that. There were ‘two-trains-and-a-bus’ route but Brooklyn is huge and buses are slow. Taking four trains was the best bet.

Was I insane? Yes! Even one of my supervisors said it. My colleagues were shocked after they found out. Everyone thought I was crazy.

But I persisted!

Yes, I struggled getting on time. It was also my first winter in the US. The struggle to get on time, the struggle to fight the cold, I had to endure.

And endure I did!

This job was a temporary paid internship. After the program was over, I passed with a 90% attendance rate. I got a $10 Dunkin Donuts Gift Card for my achievement. Some of you might say that wasn’t enough.

I’ll take it!
