“I Think I Can” or “I Knew I Could”
Which do you prefer?

Let’s take a quick look at what makes us tick like a fine watch.
What is the difference in attitude between “I think I can” and “I knew I could?” Think back to when you were much younger and you first heard the story about the little train engine that could.
The engine was chugging along smoothly and happily towing its load and then came upon a steep hill. The little engine had never attempted to climb an incline so steep before.
The little engine had heard many stories in the train yard from other engines who told of their experiences when facing steep, tough hauls. “Oh, my,” it thought.
“Will I ever be able to climb this mountain with my heavy load?”
But, it never wavered. Instead of fear of the unknown and all of the harrowing stories that had been told at the train yard, it said loudly “I think I can,” and charged on into the mighty obstacle.
Over and over the little engine said “I think I can, I think I can,” and continued chugging up the hill. The further it got, the slower it went but never stopped saying “I think I can, I think I can!”
Finally, almost at the top and barely moving it grunted out a final “I think I can, I think I can,” and thrust just a little bit more and crested the top of the hill.
From there, it was all downhill and the little engine blew its whistle and said “I knew I could, I knew I could,” and flew down the other side of the mountain and onto its destination in the valley below.
What got this little engine to its destination with its heavy load? Faith! Faith in the power that it received from the Creator of all, God as you understand Him.
What gets you to your destination with the heavy loads that you carry? Faith in the power that you receive from the Creator of all, God as you understand Him.
Thank you, God!
