I Have a Hard Time Deciding What To Watch on Netflix

Does it happen to you too?

Picture of the Author’s Living Room

It’s a lazy Saturday afternoon and you don’t really want to do much.

You want to relax and enjoy yourself. So, you -

Turn on the subwoofer, Turn off the lights, Grab some water, Get a tasty snack,

and settle onto the couch. You’re all set but wait…

What are you going to watch? Have you decided that? (Your most important decision for the afternoon)

Analysis Paralysis

This keeps happening to me quite often. Let me explain a bit about myself:

  1. I’m careful about how I use my time.
  2. I’m not really a big fan of movies or TV shows.
  3. I don’t just watch whatever comes my way without thinking.

So, when I do decide to watch something, I want to be sure it’s really good and worth my time. But, unfortunately, I don’t always succeed in finding something that meets my expectations.

I often find myself in a situation where I want to watch something on Netflix or another streaming service, but I don’t already have a specific show or movie in mind.

So, I rely on the recommendation algorithms of these platforms to suggest something interesting and enjoyable for me to watch. This way, I don’t have to spend a lot of time deciding what to watch, and I trust that the platform will offer me a good suggestion.

But, do they?

I am Spoilt For Choices

I often find myself scrolling through the titles on Netflix or other streaming platforms, looking for something that grabs my attention.

This could be:

a title that’s catchy, a subject that sounds interesting, or a trailer that piques my curiosity.

However, this process is time-consuming because it takes a while to find something that really interests me.

There have been times when it has taken me nearly half an hour just to figure out what to watch!

I know I know I know

You might be wondering if there are other ways to decide like :

Reviews and Ratings Recommendations from Friends Recommendations from Newspaper.

Why I am wasting my time like this?

Yes, I go with those methods, but every now and then, I like to take a bit of a risk and try something new.
