I Still Insist On Two Stories or Less Per Day.
It’s time we learn to care for our readers too, — respecting the time they offer to read our work.
If you publish frequently, take a break off, drink some water and hold back your intention. Do not publish yet.
I know, after hitting “Publish”, you say – whew! Finally, I am complete.
If there is another draft ready to be published, you can’t wait to hit that button again in no time.
You forget that “publish” is only the beginning.
Right after that, the next idea or story is on standby. It needs to be put down.
You will still have to write another. Spice it up, and embellish the idea.
Remember this one important thing.
Plan it sufficiently.
Given there is ample time, which you can actually secure, you can write more and publish less often.
Give yourself the time to plan that story in the best way it can be.
Because you write for the reader.
The struggle continues as it is throughout the writing process.
Review, edit, rewrite, eliminate or add all necessary words. — Post-writing.
It’s quite time-consuming.
In a nutshell, all the above steps may contribute to a particular writing disorder, — writers’ syndrome/writers’ cramp.
When you give it some time for editing, even the reader will be prepared to read it. You see, we read each other’s stories in cycles. Readers are so selective.
My pity goes to people who post several times a day.
Who says you should publish three-four articles per day? I insist on one or two stories per day.
There is not enough space to sprint here. Relax, — you need to slow down.
By the way, it is not feasible reading all three — to five articles that you publish two, five, or six hours after the other?
In my case, I need a time machine to help me read at a fast speed.
Sometimes, I think;- those people using AI here, do the software also read stories? No. I guess they only skim through. And Medium’s AI does not count skims as reads. That’s why you need to write for the true reader and respect their time as well.
“Dear, ” — frequent publisher.
Medium’s daily digest may only select one of your published stories per day. And shows it to your Subs. Do you have this in mind? Ask Mr. Algo.
If you want to publish three articles on the same day, just know only one may be distributed to your subscribers. And what about the rest? — “Pending request.”
Give your readers some time. I might be one of them. I know this does not directly affect the reader because they can decide to skip.
How about your writing? You know, sometimes writers focus on publishing several articles a day and forget to engage with their readers. The comments remain hanging/unanswered.
Stop over-feeding your readers when you can not respond to them.
Deliver to them content as supposed or appropriate or as expected.
Readers are like the heifers who can not eat much food.
You know the repercussions of too much food intake.
We will start to vomit your content letter by letter, word by word, and eventually, article by article.
Don’t lose your readers that way.
Final saying as I bring this to a terminus.
Publishing more frequently is not the way to go unless there is a line of +20k followers behind you.
It can make sense.
Readers can’t consume much within your publishing time interval. Rethink about it.
The algorithm is soon giving up on you. I prophesy. 🤭🤭
Those are my opinions.
Thank you so much, dear reader, for stopping by. I wish everybody a wonderful week.
