I Started Planning — Trying To Keep It Up

Since I’m writing every day on Medium I started planning my stories. I try to write three stories per day.

But sometimes I wrote one or two. Sometimes it hurts that I didn’t get three as I hoped. But there are other things I am doing and I can’t do everything I want. I also want to have an income from Medium. I have read so many stories about how to get an income from Medium. Everyone says something different.

Writing more than one story per day

When I read the story from Brian Rowe about writing three stories per day and I thought ‘why not try this’. In the beginning, it went well doing that by heart. But when I was on my way in this journey for a few days, it didn’t go well as I had hoped. I went from three stories per day to one story per day, suddenly. I don't know what happened. Why I didn’t write three per day.

I was disappointed in myself. I wanted to try this, I want an income from writing in Medium.

I didn’t prepare the articles one evening before as was suggested by Brian.

I also write on other platforms. That’s why I couldn’t prepare in the evening (I think) because I wanted to focus on these platforms too. I furthermore want to be ‘free’ in the evening. I need to make choices and decisions for my writing career.

Planning with a planner

So, I bought a planner and wrote all the articles by name that I want to write that day.

But the planner helps me to do at least one story per day. I also need to write faster to do more. I am a slow person too. I also try a lot on Medium. What can I do? What should I write? What methods are working for me? And so on. I Always write not in order when I write the story but the first paragraph and then the fourth or another order.

I have so many ideas that it is difficult to do it all and keep everything on track in my head.

That’s why I need to plan — at least trying to and learning to plan.

I also try everything that works for me with different kinds of planners. I am willing to keep everything on track. On these planning systems, I also write my housekeeping tasks and appointments. Then I know what kind of busy day it will be.

I’m — in this phase of my life — trying everything that works for me to keep my things on my track what I need and what I want to do and what I want to achieve in my life. It is difficult sometimes. Especially when you have things on your mind that needs priority and having kids talking to you or need your attention.

But I like to have these planners and keep on track with what I have to do. Maybe I need to slow down and start with one story per day and then — when my time is ready — write three per day (or two if I can handle that amount of stories better).
