I Started My YouTube Channel!
After almost deciding not to
See that old tree? That’s how I was feeling about myself the other day. Old, worn out, but still here.
Well, maybe the worn-out part isn’t entirely true. I think I still have some miles left.
I cannot express how being on Medium has re-energized me. From thinking there wasn’t much left to do with myself at age sixty- eight, I now look towards each day with renewed focus and energy. My love of writing has burst into my life with unbelievable force, and interacting with all of you has only made this experience even more rewarding.
So when I had the supposed great idea to use my articles for a YouTube channel, I was hyped. Maybe I do have meaningful things to share as well as what I’ve gained from my life experiences.
But I wrote an article the other day about how deflated my enthusiasm became when I saw how old I looked on camera. Dammit, how did that happen? Do I want to be an old lady in my videos?
True to my nature, I bounced back the following morning. So what? I’m old. I’m still here, and besides, my articles and YouTube channel are all about being authentic.
So I decided to embrace that very thing I write about. I’m a young lady on the inside who looks old on the outside. And suddenly I feel better.
So for anyone who is curious, here’s my very first video I shot the other day on the beach in front of my cabin. It’s not the greatest and I haven’t created a thumbnail yet, but this new venture is a work in progress. I wasn’t even sure if I uploaded the subscribe button correctly, but since someone just subscribed, apparently I did!
I plan to include videos in many of my articles here, and no, I don’t know what I’m doing yet with that either, but I have some ideas.
If I’m writing about being on the beach, I want you to feel like you’re there too. And if I’m out in the woods, I’ll take you along there as well. I want to bring you into my world of positivity and a simplistic philosophical view of the world.
This is no way going to be a professional type channel, meaning I have no videoing skills other than holding up my phone, but if you hang in there, I’m learning.
So what’s my channel about?
It’s about all the things I write about on here, and more. It’s about my positive nature and struggles that I overcame. It’s about sharing ideas for you rather than preaching what to do. And it’s about sharing my many failures, which oddly enough, I never let them slow me down.
It’s about being homeless before homelessness was all over the internet, and about being in abusive relationships before that was widely acknowledged.
It’s about being positive no matter what is going on in your life, and how I appreciate the little things and what I do have rather than what I don’t.
I’ll show you beautiful places in Maine and hiking with amazing views of the sea. I’ll try my best not to bore you, but if I do, just let me know!
I plan to post at least one video a week, probably more in the summer. So if you’re interested and want to see what this old lady looks like and what she has to say, here I am!!
