I Started a Lawn Care Business as a 17yrs Old. Here’s What I’ve Learned And What I Earned.
Around a month ago as of the time of writing this article, I would have been up on a roof, 20–30mins away from home. I was a roofer. I was paid $16.50 an hour, and my job typically consisted of shingle removal with a shovel tool, carrying old shingles across the roof to our truck for disposal, and handing higher ups tools. On this particular day, it was hot, and I was more drained then normal. I was bored out of my mind, and longing to be home. I thought to myself “Is this intense labor I’m providing my boss with, worth $16.50/hour?” I simply decided right then and there, I could not do this job any longer. I finished the day, and quit, just like that.
A few days later, I wake up with the idea for a landscaping business. Being my act now think later self, I decided to go get business cards printed:

Using a simple tool called Canva made this easy for me. I am in no way affiliated with Canva, I am simply their customer and I would recommend their free tool to you.
I spent much of that day knocking on doors, and putting up flyers. I made sure my name, and my business card were seen multiple times by people in my community on Facebook, on their doors, and I would walk up to people mowing their lawns, offering them a business card.
Slowly but surely, for the next 2 weeks, charging about $50/per hour of work, and using a lot of my dads tools, I got to mowing lawns, weed wacking, and overseeding. My phone was ringing with people in need of quotes.
I can now happily say I manage over 10 properties, mowing weekly at the very least. Some of these customers I provide much more advanced service for, such as overseeding and pruning. I can get many hours of work in, and make more money.

I have made well over $700 profit in 2 weeks of mowing. If you are in need of a side hustle, I have to say, mowing and landscaping work is one of the easiest ways to make a satisfactory amount of extra income. My actionable advice for today: get started as soon as possible! Commit to the work, and be very open for business! It is not hard work.
