I Smell You in the Morning Breeze

And it was the most perfumed scent

Photo by the blowup on Unsplash

I smell you in the morning breeze when I opened the window to let in the sun.

That familiar scent of a love long gone of crumpled covers and tossed pillows. Of coffee dates and cinnamon cakes.

The scent of weed all green and pure — organic. Not lab-grown but produced in the hills under a Caribbean sun.

I smell you and miss you a bit. Liar! That voice inside my head said it’s much more than a bit. it's bits and bits and bits.

If only I could capture the smell of you on my body — unwashed. Dried sweat and juice of moments spent — spent.

I would bottle it and use a splash each day in memory of the ecstasy and harmony that we once shared. When everything was everything and life was simpler for we knew no fear of losing a love that we both held dear.

I would create my scent of you. Bottled, And named Funk.
