I Set a Goal for This Month. And I’m Probably Going to Fall Short.
But I won’t let it ruin my day
This month, I wanted to build out my audience. I was aiming for 5,000 views in February.
It’s not looking like it’ll happen.
Today is February 28th and I’ve only got ~4,500 views.
The goal I set
The goal I set was ambitious but realistic.
Last month, I had over 1,000 views and was hoping to 4x that.
So, 5,000 seemed like a reasonable number.
Things started out strong and it looked like I would surpass that number.
But then, things started to slow down.
Here’s how I react
To be fair, I still don’t know whether or not I’ll reach the goal.
Regardless, I’ll react in the same way.
Just keep doing what I’ve been doing.
It’s that simple.
If I do hit the goal, I’ll get a little dopamine boost because I was able to hit some arbitrary mark that I defined for myself.
But if I don’t, I might be a little bummed. But I’ll still be thrilled with the growth.
I will keep doing what I’ve been doing because it’s been working.
I just wish that it’d work faster. That’s all.
Some people make the mistake of falling short of their goals and then completely overhauling their processes and actions.
This is unnecessary and can be detrimental.
People stop doing the things that brought them success in the first place.
I’m not going to fall into this trap.
If I hit my goal, I’ll feel slightly better.
If I miss it, I’ll feel slightly bummed.
But regardless, I’ll keep on doing the same thing. Over and over.
Don’t let falling short of your goals throw you off the track.
