I See Her Find Herself
Poetry prompt: craft a character sketch and center your poem around this experience, or the character you imagined
I see her in my dreams When she throws her head back And give in to the joy in her heart In the twilight sneaking through the mountains A golden glow of hope, wrapped around her silhouette
I see her in the midst of a jungle Leaning on to a tree older than her age Her eyes closed, every breath a mix of leaves and soil Time passes in a lulling breeze of a fall day Until the whispering shadows loom closer to embrace her
I see her lose herself In the stories hidden in a city that withstood the test of time Gathering the smallest clues lost in the farthest corners and the well-lit streets And she tries to piece them together Marveling at the wonders of the insignificant yet fascinating life of the man
I see her find herself One fragment at a time With every step she takes Until she is ready to let go And free herself from the race with time
Thank you, Lucy The Eggcademic (she/her), for providing this wonderful prompt, craft a character sketch and center your poem around this experience, or the character you imagined. It sent me on a creative loop to reflect on myself and reimagine myself. And I loved where it took me in the end.
