I Saw A Pigeon In The Nest On A Rainy Day
A story of love and positivity

It was raining outside and then it stopped raining. After that the rain became intermittent. The day was dull, dark, gloomy, and cold.
I was standing on my balcony. My thoughts were flitting in all directions. I was in fact enjoying the weather.
I suddenly saw that opposite my home and on the window sill of the neighbor a long block of wood. On it, I saw some long strands of grass. I also saw some twine and some long protruding metal bars.
The pigeon had removed some bars or they were missing from before I do not know.
They can survive anywhere.
In between those bars sat a bird comfortably. I took a closer look and saw a grey pigeon. She was not disturbed by the rain and was comfortably placed inside the nest.
Sometimes I think pigeons love their nesting eggs and children fiercely.
The nesting habits of pigeons are very unique. I saw that one bird which must be a male taking various trips to and fro to get something to eat. I have read that the male chooses a nest site that a female likes.
What a joy to make the female happy and content with where she wants to live in.
Sometimes I think pigeons love each other as well as their children fiercely.
I had seen some time ago there were many sticks lying over there.
As a kid in social studies, I had read that the male selects one stick and brings it back, laying it in front of his mate.
The female stays at the nesting site and when the male brings the sticks she accepts them. Then she rests and the male keeps bringing more sticks underneath her.
This is what must have happened and I did not even notice that the sticks have now become a creative nest for the pigeons.
There is companionship and a lot of joy between them.
The scene was exactly like that there were long sticks of grass and twine to make the female comfortable. She was calmly sitting there.
The nest of the pigeon was on the building ledge above the large window, that had beams.
The pigeon was sitting comfortably inside the nest and probably looking after her eggs inside the nest. She wanted no harm to her eggs. She waited patiently for her mate to bring her food. She was very protective of her eggs and kids.
Look at the trust and companionship, love and joy for her mate bringing her food, and the fierce protection of their kids.
Looking at the pigeons quietly I felt that we can learn from the pigeon to thrive in any environment and be creative.
We do not like pigeons. We shoo them away. They are creative and quickly make a nest right in front of us and we do not even notice.
They are creative and clever and do not care even if we throw them out. They find ways to come back again.
They can thrive in the majority of countries around the world.
They can adapt and survive in any environment and adapt their diet to support their survival.
It is truly a mindset. If you look at your circumstances positively and be in gratitude for what you have you will have so much to look forward to in your life.
The takeaways
- Be thankful for all the things that you are blessed with.
- In a relationship, you must trust your mate and be joyful when they do something good for you.
- Be thankful for the things you are blessed with. Gratitude brings love, joy, and contentment.
- Develop a positive attitude and mindset to reach your goals

Look at the pigeon photo above and decide what your feelings are. I found the pigeon comfortable on a plank with lots of iron metals. Somebody else would find it uncomfortable but the pigeon was at peace and comfort. It had adapted itself to a comfortable position and was grateful for its nest. It did not care whether it was raining, gloomy or sunny.
Let us wrap up
The one hour spent looking at the pigeons was interesting. I could feel the confidence of the male pigeon and faith in his ability to feed his mate. He knew that she was protecting the egg and sitting comfortably in the nest. He did the coming and going and adapted himself to it.
Change your mindset. Stay with positive people. Be joyful and grateful for what you have in life. Adapt yourself to your surroundings. Believe in yourself and be joyful and loving.
A quotation from Buddha aptly concludes the story of the pigeon:
“We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves.” Buddha
