Summary

The author reflects on the transformation from feeling regret over lost time to understanding and embracing God's timing as purposeful and sacred.

Abstract

The article delves into the author's journey from lamenting over time perceived as wasted to a realization of the divine nature of time, as understood in a Christian context. The author contrasts "Chronos" time, which is linear and relentless, with "kairos" time, which is God's time marked by purpose and seasons. The piece suggests that God's time is not subject to the urgency and waste that characterize worldly time, and that by sanctifying each moment through presence and contentment, one can find peace and purpose in the divine timing of events. The author emphasizes that in kairos time, nothing is wasted, and everything unfolds according to God's plan.

I Sanctify Time

I used to lament over lost time regrets, time not used wisely, time that cannot be recaptured, Chronos time that marches and feasts like locusts devouring everything sacred and secular not placed in God’s hands.

Then I learned I’m not constrained to Chronos time My God’s time is kairos time measured in purpose and seasons…

To everything, there is a season Solomon reminds me. He accelerates and multiplies, slows and expands, in accordance with His purpose.

Chronos rages at my door screaming “NOW, NOW, NOW” God redeems all the lost minutes, hours, days pouring them into His bottle of kairos time whispering in my ear, “when, when, when

When it’s time, my dear.

When you’re ready, my love.

When I choose, my child.

In kairos time I’m sheltered nothing wasted or exposed to the devourer hidden from the god of Chronos. In the cleft of the rock, He teaches me the secret of time

I sanctify time by being present and content in each moment.
