I Received a Gift From Another Medium User

That was a nice surprise!

I opened my Buymeacoffee account during the summer, a bit after opening my Medium account.

It seemed like a wonderful idea.

Creatives who get paid to sustain their work? Writers, even?

Wow. Almost too good to be true.

And, in fact, none paid a penny (I live and think in Euro, but definitely “penny” sounds better here…) for many months.

Who can blame them? I’m not offering them much. I’m certainly no Dostoevsky.

Until someone did!

I discovered it some days ago. I decided to write an article to thank the anonymous donator until I figured out that I could see their email address so that they are not that anonymous after all…

What to say? I’m super impressed by the act of generosity of a stranger — a fellow writer on Medium, but still a stranger. I think the donation followed this article of mine, so it’s actually to be considered a gift for my little one.

Of course. Let’s remark once more how evident it is that I’m no Dostoevsky.
