I Put My Mind to Bed Last Night
A Poem of Future Dreams

I put my mind to bed last night and gently tucked it in. And tried to keep the world at bay and the hurt from creeping in.
I listened as it spoke of sorrow and the conflicts it endured The times of wasted synergy and the sluggishness when feeling bored.
It told me of its secret places where concepts hid in fear Ideas that ran away from homes and asked to stay up there
Of childish idiosyncrasies that others had laughed away And how it missed the older times of laughter and endless play
I asked it, if I had been a friend kinder than the world at large It said I was a gentle master not so bad, for one in charge
The sounds of peace, did fill the room as I tiptoed toward the door And though a sense of sadness came I knew there’d be much more
I hope the morning brings its light A dream returning home And both my mind and me will share A world not so alone.
