I Purchased
I purchased a smile with a bag of oranges the older woman, did not render any change — the monies that I earned in the extra hour I wasn’t with my baby, I left the smile there, it wasn’t ripe, anyway
I purchased some truth, with a copy of the daily, it spoke about the dark shekels amassed from the deductions of my monthly, I returned the daily, it was of lies, anyway
I purchased some philosophy with a ticket to big talks they didn’t care, for me, or my building problems, I came back home, it was a verbal biography, anyway
At home, I gave my baby a whole extra hour, told her a true story of a princess who purchased nothing, the kid smiled at me, pure as a pelagic spring, I was her superwoman, anyway ©M.D.B.
