I Need Your Help to Perfect Productivity

And Thank You for Your Efforts Already

It was early evening at one of the millions of bohemian coffee shops in the Portland Metro area. Sipping at our de-caffeinated drinks, we were discussing life, work, and family. I was sitting with a friend and mentor. He asked me a question:

“What has you so excited about productivity? How did you get to writing about it so much?”

I took a long pull from my chai latte. And then I looked back over the last six months or so. It sure had been a journey. And my friend had been encouraging me to chase after writing. Always asking, helping connect me to ideas it fed my desire to write. And so, I went down the rabbit hole.

A Recap of 21 Productivity Tips

It all started with one post:

After months of struggling with work, I realized I needed to be more intentional about my work. And the best way to do that, was to learn productivity tips that would apply to the job I am doing. After hours of reading, I created a list. Which turned into the blog post above.

After implementing those 21 tips at work, I kept track of what I was doing for about three months. In this time, I was starting to see amazing efficiency gains at work. In fact, it was startling to see what was coming out of the original post.

Someone also asked if I had a print out of this list, which I did in a Word document, but hadn’t thought about distributing it. And then I realized, if I am struggling, others must be too.

So, I wrote this post:

With this post, I gave an update to how things were going with my list and my intentional effort to get out in front of my work. And, I created a print out, you can get it through the post.

I thought that would be it though. I figured it would run it’s course and be what it was, one post with a print out. With no intention to create anything else, someone messaged me in a writing group:

“Have you thought about writing each point out in individual posts?”

No, I had not. However, the comments from the post and on social media made it clear others wanted more. Or at least, wanted to know how I was using these tips to improve my work. And so, I did just that, over the last four months I have been working on each one of these points, turning them into posts here on Medium.

You can find each on in this Medium Series:

It walks through my entire story, each posts, and some thoughts along the way. It is a great resource and a helpful way to organize the posts as I go. Feel free to jump into it and check out each post.

Why Did I Ask for Help?

A lot of people have commented. Even more have clapped and shared. Others have been walking through this with me the entire time. Now, I could use some help in my next phase of this journey.

If you have have clapped and shared my posts:

Would you leave a response below sharing one way that these tips have helped you? What have you been able to do with them? Some of you even said you were going to implement one or two, how did it go?

For those who responded along the way:

I would like to hear from you again. I toyed with the idea of connecting every commenter to this post, but decided it would take forever and feel a little spammy. Could you share in the response below any new insights you might have had into your productivity?

For those who implemented even one tip:

Could you share how it went? Any stories you have or ways it has changed the way you do things?

If this is your first read through of my series:

What my be helpful to you? Is there any of these you haven’t heard of before? Or is there one you could use today?

Your input will be super helpful for me. It has been really encouraging to read your comments and see your shares in the last few months. And I want to see what has been very helpful and what may not have been helpful.
