I made steak, mashed potatoes, and green beans for our dinner. It was more extravagant — not a commercially prepared supper — than our usual fare.
It wasn’t a special occasion, but I was feeling especially loving.
As I placed Ed’s dinner on the TV tray and saw his delight, my heart warmed. I thought, how could I make this meal more memorable?
And then it hit me.
After searching our home for a taper or two, I found what I was looking for. Although the candle was battery-operated, I knew it would do the trick.
I shut off the light and placed the candle on his tray.
The ambiance was lovely; however, the room remained dark. You could hardly see the food.
We cut our steak with care, hoping the evening wouldn’t include a trip to the emergency room for stitches.
That surely would have spoiled the mood.
