I Made Pottery In VR

And it was really fun.

One day my husband messaged me.

Do you want your dreams to come true. Now they will.

I was thinking, is he writing some kind of advertisement for something? It was funny and I didn’t know how to reply. I wondered if it was some kind of a joke because he never said something like this before.

Than he told me that there’s a new game for VR in which I can create pottery. He knew I always wanted to learn to make pottery. I even started once but had to leave it for some reason. I learned how to make ceramics pieces from hand but had to stop before I got to the potter’s wheel stage. It looks so therapeutic.

My love of pottery is still as ignited as before. And someday I’m going to learn it properly. So there was no doubt that I was going to try that game.

It’s a new game so the developers told we’ll get our money back for the game if we didn’t play for certain number of hours. Which, in return, means we didn’t like the game.

I don’t know much about the VR (oculus quest) so my husband downloaded the game and even played a bit. And I have to say he did better than I expected because he hasn’t much skill or never did this kind of stuff.

I tried the game and it wasn’t as good and satisfying as the real experience but wasn’t that bad. My head usually hurts when I play VR, but the game was entertaining, and I couldn’t stop.

You can either create your own pottery or create it for someone when they order. A first few times I made someone’s order. They were simple pieces without any color and design.

The process of making a piece in the game is pretty interesting. You can adjust the height of the pot and create it’s shape according to desire. You have to hold and move your hand outward to make the pieces wider. And if you want to narrow it down you have to push your hand inwards. The right controller creates the shape of the object. And the left one is used to paint or browse through options.

The most interesting thing in the game is that you can auction your pottery pieces in the game too for money. It feels like real people are bidding for your piece. And you can buy colors, patterns, and embellishments for the pottery.

I got a message telling me what I have to create for someone and the amount of money I’ll be paid for it. Than you start creating that pottery piece on the potters wheel. You have to adjust the height exactly like the picture you got and get near to 5 stars in it. Making the correct height is easy.

The next thing I did was making the shape of the piece as close to the image as I can. No matter how hard I try, I couldn’t get more than four stars.

After that it’s time to fire the piece. You have to put it in the kiln and after a few seconds it’s done.

Now you can paint the piece. I painted the pattern on in this case which was check and line pattern. You can buy the pattern and color from the shape. Than I painted the piece pink and yellow the same as the picture.

When you think you’re done, you can deliver the piece to the customer, or you can put it for auction.

The game and the pottery pieces you’re asked to make become different and different as you progress.

The field of VR is so vast that we keep getting new and exciting things to experience and play. The world of the VR tingles our senses and makes us feel like we’re in a different world. The world is moving so rapidly away from the games we play on our television and computers. And right now, VR feels like the future of gaming.
