Summary

The author, a graduating student, has been unable to focus on their recipe blog due to the demands of their final undergraduate semester, leading to a reliance on quick, unhealthy meals and self-doubt about balancing school and family health.

Abstract

The author has created a recipe blog but has not been able to actively contribute to it due to the time constraints of their last semester in college. With a heavy load of assignments, studying, conferences, and other adult responsibilities, the author has defaulted to convenience foods like frozen fried chicken and pizza for family meals. The rare occasions when the author has time to cook, the kitchen is too messy to photograph for the blog. This situation has caused the author to question whether they are neglecting their family's health for academic pursuits and to wonder if starting the blog was an unnecessary additional task.

  • The author questions the wisdom of starting a blog amidst a demanding academic schedule, hinting at self-doubt regarding time management and priorities.

I made a recipe blog, so why aren’t I cooking?! I love cooking, but I’ve only really made four recipes that I’ve photographed and documented on there. It’s bit frustrating. Why am I not focusing on my own project?

For one thing, it’s the last week of the last semester of my undergraduate degree. Between all the assignments, studying, conferences, and other adult responsibilities I’ve got on my calendar, I haven’t really had time to prepare a solid meal for my family.

Everything’s been frozen fried chicken, or pizza, or something of the like. The occasional time I do have available to actually cook, it’s too much of a mess to photograph for a blog. Am I putting school over the health of my family? Did I take on an extra task that I didn’t need to do? What was I thinking?
