Summary

The author expresses dissatisfaction with the Siri remote for the Apple TV, particularly criticizing the letter scrolling feature and the remote's tendency to get lost in the couch.

Abstract

The author begins by stating their fondness for the Apple TV but immediately points out a significant flaw: the Siri remote's design. They find the process of scrolling to individual letters on the remote to be frustrating and inefficient, suggesting that it almost necessitates the use of voice commands. Additionally, the remote's shape seems to encourage it to slip into the depths of the couch cushions frequently. To mitigate this issue, the author has resorted to attaching Tiles trackers to the remotes, which not only helps in locating them when they inevitably disappear but also improves the grip on the device.

Opinions

  • The Siri remote's letter scrolling feature is subpar and makes voice commands a preferable alternative.
  • The design of the Siri remote inadvertently leads to it frequently getting lost in the couch.
  • Attaching Tiles trackers to the remote is a practical solution to both find it when lost and enhance its ergonomics.

I love the Apple TV, but they need to throw the Siri remote away and start over. Scrolling to letters is awful and really requires that you use voice. It also lends itself to falling as deep into the couch as possible all the time. I ended up attaching Tiles to them so I can find them when this happens (it also has the side effect of making it easier to hold it)
