Summary

A writer struggling with motivation and perfectionism finds renewed inspiration and practical advice through a notification about a 100-day writing challenge and articles by Dr. Mehmet Yildiz.

Abstract

The author, a Medium user since 2021, has faced challenges in writing consistently due to imposter syndrome and a tendency towards perfectionism. After receiving encouraging comments on previous stories, the writer was still hindered by the self-imposed requirement of writing at least 1,000 words before publishing. The turning point came with a notification from "Illumination Amplifier," leading to an article that introduced the "100 Day Challenge for New Writers." This challenge, emphasizing daily writing habits and consistency over word count, reignited the author's passion for writing. The article suggests that even busy individuals can start with 150 words a day and that writing frequently, like taking daily showers, is crucial for growth and motivation. The author, invigorated by this advice, shares the experience to motivate other aspiring writers and suggests reading Dr. Mehmet Yildiz's work for further inspiration. The author also expresses appreciation for financial support from readers through Ko-Fi.

I don’t know if I can call myself a new writer on the Medium platform because I joined this community in 2021. It’s been over a year, and I haven’t made any progress. Why?

  1. I had an imposter experience. It held me back whenever I wanted to post my stories.
  2. I needed a perfect of being a perfectionist. I was greatly concerned about grammar, style, tone, and mood…You Name It!

Thanks to the previous comments from my stories Chasing after 100 followers: Thank you.

Those writers’ comments pulled me up and pushed me to write again. However, my perfectionist wanted me to write more than 1,000 words before posting. It was still chasing after me. Then I must crave my writing to reach at least 1,000 words before posting. That’s why I am not going anywhere!

Till today I got a new notification from Illumination Amplifier, and I started fetching tips about writing from that notification. And I found the article 100 Day Challenge for New Writers How to grow and become a top writer on Medium in three months

“Just start with 150 words if you are too busy. If you want to become a writer, you should be able to allocate 10 minutes a day.

Some “wanna-be” writers post an article once a month or sometimes once every three months and expect results. The chances are too low. You can’t satisfy your thirst with a drop.

All good writers consider it like having a shower every day. I don’t think anyone takes a shower once a month. I don’t know about you, but I take at least three cold showers a day to boost my energy and stay motivated.”

This part from the article is like a bucket of ice water from Dr. Mehmet Yildiz splashing on my face. All inspiration and motivation flow into my vein, and I started writing this article to share it with you!

If you are seeking motivation or inspiration to write and become a writer on Medium, please please please read the articles about writing from Dr. Melmet Yildiz.

Thanks for reading!

It would be great and awesome if writers could be supported financially. It is like encouragement. So, if you love the pieces of my writing and want to support me, you can consider buying me a Ko-Fi coffee :)
