Medium Made Me Lose My Followers And Those I Followed Overnight And I Gained Them Back

And I mean a LOT!

Medium went Crazy in the Early hours of May 26, 2022

I lost over 1K Followers and over 2K People I followed. I used to follow probably over 3,000 people.

Did that happen to anyone of you?

Did any of you receive an email warning that this would happen? I did not!

Unfortunately, I don’t have a screenshot to show that I had over 1K followers or that I followed over 3,000 people. But I wouldn’t lie about it, and I do follow a lot of people every day, which is a maximum of 50 that medium allows per day. Now I only follow 1,245. Seems strange that I would lose so many followers overnight for no reason at all, and people I follow.

When I opened my account today, May 26, 2022, I was shocked to see that I only had 237 followers. I added one person who had followed me a few hours earlier. And now I have 238 followers. I guess I should be grateful that it did not go below 100 followers as I would have been kicked out of the Medium Partner Program. That would mean no metering of articles and no more making money unless I get my followers to over 100.

Did Medium purge many people overnight? Anyone know?

Any answers or insight will greatly be appreciated.

Maybe it is just a glitch. Hopefully!

If it gets fixed, I will update this article.

UPDATE: Sometime after I posted this article, the glitch seems to have been fixed when I looked at medium. Has this ever happened to anyone? I can now heave a sigh of relief!
