I Just Don’t Believe in Writer’s Block. This is Why.
I believe if you sit down and move your fingers something HAS to emerge!

So many writers talk about writers' block. It seems to be an ever-present theme and something so many are concerned about.
I’ve heard these comments made by frustrated writers:
“I just can’t write!”
“I can’t think of a THING to say today!”
“I need a writer’s prompt!”
“I’ve run out of ideas!!”
“I’d rather go walk the dog!”
“I’d rather be anywhere else!!”

I even saw this Candle for Writer’s Block for sale.
I Don’t Believe in Writer’s Block and This is Why.
One of my all-time favorite books on writing is a simple easy to read book called If You Can Talk You Can Write by Joel Saltzman. I highly recommend it to keep your butt in the chair and keep you writing.
My attitude toward writing totally changed after reading this book.

What I learned from the book about Writers’ Block was this :
No one ever says ‘Wow I just can’t talk today!’ (unless you’ve lost your voice or your vocal chords have been removed) so, you CAN ALWAYS talk — which means you can ALWAYS write!
Pretty simple.
That comment stuck in my brain ever since I read the book 4 years ago. Since then I’ve published 6 books and written over 1500 essays and poems.
Why I Don’t Believe in Writers Block
I believe that you’ll never run out of ideas.
Life is all around you… So, stories are all around you.
Just write what you see. Write what you feel. Write what you are angry about. Write what confuses the shit out of you. Write about someone who inspires you. Write about how you feel today or how you feel about the world. Write about what makes your heart sing. Write about how you feel about your family. Write about your pet or your mate. Write about what concerns you about our world. Write about what you’re curious about. Write about what makes you scream with disbelief…
Just like there are always plenty of stars in the sky we’ll never run out of them
…and there are unending grains of sand on the beach
and infinite hairs on your head!
So, there are always INFINITE POSSIBILITIES for things to write about.
I love endless possibilities. Don’t you?
Just think about that: There will never be a time when you will run out of things to say!
Will we run out of stars? Or grains of sand? Will we run out of hair follicles?
Never in a zilllllllion years!
Will we run out of ideas? NOPE!
For as long as we live we will always be full of stories. Always.
So, this is why I don’t believe in Writers Block. I do believe in Writer’s Frustration but that can usually be solved by — just writing more.
