I Joined Substack to Monetize My Words: Am I Ditching Medium?
Substack was a fortunate find for me. Make it yours, too.

Substack is where you will find me hanging out most of my time since this October.
But, whenever I say Substack, the next call that shouts out is always, what is Substack?
Well, it’s an email newsletter platform if we keep it simple. But it is far beyond that.
Let's examine it closely, and at the end, I'll be sharing my experience on Substack with you.
What exactly is Substack?
Substack is a platform equally loved by writers and readers. For readers, it's a rich content source about whatever they want to read.
They can choose to receive newsletter emails directly in their inbox or can access them via the Substack website or app.
For my fellow writers, we can reasonably call it a game changer for everyone who wants to write.
- If you're a thought leader, you can jot down your thoughts on Substack and create your newsletter.
- For journalists, it freely allows them to share their controversial ideas without messing up with editors.
- Last but not least come the newbie writers. They can effectively use the platform to showcase their love for writing.
But will sharing your ideas on Substack pay your debts?
Excitingly, It will!
Substack allows you to monetize your words and brings you closer to your dream car if you have your eyes on the branded bag.
How can you use Substack?
Using and getting started with Substack is much easier than finding your favorite socks in the laundry pile.
Create your account and get a mini-website to post your blogs on. Now, you need to decide what you are going to talk about.
Either you will tell people how you tolerate your boss or tricks for making a wife say 'sorry,' find the niche where these fall, and start hitting publish.
You can also subscribe to other publications (there are pretty good chances they'd subscribe you back). And here I'm going to give you the tip that's worth thousands: Be consistent!
“I accumulated small but consistent habits that ultimately led to results that were unimaginable when I started.” ~ James Clear
Substack and I.
Getting in more and more new subscribers every day, Substack has won me over ultimately!
I was pleasantly surprised to find a familiar name among the comments — Kristina God
It's always nice to see a friendly face in the crowd!
Kristina God is among the top 1,000 writers on Medium. She is a journalist and a part-time writer who gives her invaluable tips and ideas about writing, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
And yeah, the most important thing is that she has become one of my subscribers on YouTube. I uploaded my first video on YouTube on the 26th of March, 2020.
It was Thursday, I remember. And now, I will complete the century of my videos on YouTube.
When I created my first newsletter on Substack, it brought me three years back when I started sharing my stories and experiences with fellow enthusiasts on Medium.

I can recall when I hit the publish button for my first article.
Every single clap used to work more than an energy drink for me. The energy that used to be enough for the following two articles.
Coming back to Substack, it can be your journal where you can freely share your opinions, your diary to share your life experiences, and a platform to build your thought leadership and monetize your words.
No, I'm not leaving Medium :) I love it, and I trust it.
It was about Substack on Medium, so how would you compare these two?
