I Introduced A Chinese Invasion On My Devices
Now I have no choice but to learn, and to learn fast
One day I had a bright idea whilst thinking about how to learn to read Chinese as fast as possible. That idea — was to change the language input on All my devices — granted I only use like three devices, a phone, a laptop, and my PlayStation.
Genius! I was proud of this one, nothing like passive learning to boost your language comprehension skills. If only it stayed that simple.
See had I chosen a small language, you know not a language that over 1 billion people speak in, maybe I could have been spared. However, slowly but surely my application experience on my three devices was taken over.
The PlayStation was mostly fine, most games kept their english description and titles but when it came to my laptop and phone, Google was the key to my downfall. As the days went by slowly but surely Google picked up on the fact my input settings had changed, first apps started being changed to their Chinese names and versions, then the search settings, the weather, Spotify, and hell even the email, all in Chinese. Now when I search online it even auto translates some websites into their Chinese version.
Of course, there’s an easy fix to this, a quitter’s rally, a fool’s reckoning. I could switch it all back, end the war, and surrender to the invasion. Or, I could face it, and learn as fast as possible. I choose to fight, I’ve already locked down what weather, power off and settings are, that’s three terms baby, I ain’t going down yet.
