I was selfish today, I thought of many things and they all had I — I — I

I’d like this and I need that and I want to be the king on the hill with coin in his pocket and a smile

Yeah, a big smile and flowers in the yard and a house with a car in the drive way and a dog that liked me

And a woman, with a big smile and a big heart and the tender touch that makes me feel alive and free and

I — I — I want to live a life that makes it on the front page and people read about it and laugh about it and dream about it and

I — I — I want to dream a dream where everything comes true and people say hey, aren’t you the guy that makes people laugh and feel alive and donates cash to great causes, cause you

have all that money and I don’t?

I was selfish today and you know sometimes the heats on and the wind is blowing hot in your face and you sweat and detest all the drudge and pain and lack of pleasure and the woman you loved, well she just chucked your TV out onto the street and your friend — she loves him instead.

Sometimes being selfish means being alive and caring and not daring to let go, cause you’ll drift away and they’ll be no one left to say . . .

I knew that guy and he was okay, he made me laugh and gave me cash and didn’t try to be liked, no he didn’t try to change me, no he was …

I was selfish today and the world didn’t end.
