I had a nightmare, for Palestinians it’s a daily “life”
The charming beauty of Palestine before the apocalypse and the evil of human creatures
“You don’t need to be Muslim to stand up for Palestine, you just need to be human.”

I had a nightmare as always…suddenly we were on the battlefield and I saw my family die because someone shot them in front of me so I could escape. Since then I lived in secrecy and sorrow until I grew old. I felt an ineffable ache, then I realized that what I was only dreaming about was someone’s reality. The reality of people in places engulfed in war, dying every minute and if they survive, they wish they were dead and didn’t have to live with pain. I broke down…
My question is, what have they done to deserve such a torment? Why do some people desire to kill? Why blood of the innocent bring them joy, satisfaction, or how do you call it? Because it is always ordinary people who suffer, those who didn’t choose to fight. It is a story without an end, a past that continues to every breath of a future. Pain that resists no matter the time. Only if you ever lost your loved one, your whole life in him, you can feel their grief. Regardless of how hard I try to understand both sides of the story or be rational I always end up not understanding.
I know how traumas can change your life forever. Those kids would never sleep calmly again, never know how happy and fulfilled life looks like or how not to suffer a shattered life. Their life chances ended before they even started. Some people tend to say that they didn’t have a choice only to cheat or lie. My answer is, f*ck you, you had a chance, those kids don’t have. They are condemned to the worst conditions and still would give a helping hand with the warmest welcome if you were them. They don’t have the bare minimum like food, not even the life we have in Europe or America.
They hold the hand of their parents as they die under the ruins, they see them suffering. How crushing it must be to know that they cannot be saved…All the beautiful things that were worth living for are suddenly gone, no reason to continue. They have nowhere to go home and grieve, people to hug, and they fall asleep knowing that tomorrow will not be better.
We tend to deal with stupid things like having the newest iPhone and somewhere in the world people are dying because they don’t have water or basic medicine. When it comes to Palestine, yes, this is how the end of the world looks like, it already started for them. Just close your eyes and imagine that you won’t be sure to see the sun tomorrow through the dust from the explosions.

Certainly, people never learn from their mistakes, we will keep doing them until mankind perishes. But this time it’s not a mistake, it’s a decision of bloodshed. Who are you to decide the life or death of others?
As from a person who loves politics, maybe you would like to hear facts about the situation. But if politics means committing evil, I don’t want to be a part of it. Therefore, I can only show my empathy but that is why we are humans, we can feel emotions. My heart is in pieces, it suffers when they suffer.
Death takes regardless of age, nature, or anything else. It doesn’t make a difference, only humans do. However, no other person should decide when your time is up.

Before all the evil, many places deserved our tourist attention. Today, there may be only ruins in their place. This is not my usual travel article, but I would like to remind you of all the beauties of Palestine, to keep them in the memory in their original form.
Life here was never easy and it didn’t give them anything for free, but cultural beauties did. Dear Palestinians, the whole world is praying for you. Let’s close our eyes for a while and remember how we want your country to look again:
1. Gaza City- the largest city in the State of Palestine

Great Mosque of Gaza- the oldest and largest mosque in the Gaza Strip

Qasr al-Basha- a large historical palace was a girl’s school

Al Amin Mohammad Mosque

Church of Saint Porphyrius- a Greek Orthodox church was the third oldest in the world

Islamic University of Gaza- students, professors, and scientists lost their lives

Public Library of Gaza- attempt to destroy historical documents

Rashad Shawa Cultural Center- was a meeting and exhibit hall

Port of Gaza

2. Outside of Gaza City

Deir al Balah- a city in the Gaza Strip, now serves as a refugee camp

Mar Saba Monastery- Greek Orthodox monastery in the West Bank

Barquq Castle- Islamic fort

Bethlehem City- a town in the West Bank, the site of the Nativity of Jesus Christ, today turned into a ghost town

Star Street Palestine- is one of Bethlehem’s oldest commercial streets

Church of the Nativity- a basilica in Bethlehem and one of the most sacred Christian sites in the world

Milk Grotto Church- is a Catholic chapel

Streets of Ramallah

Cave of the Patriarchs- a memorial- burial place of three biblical couples, a complex of underground caves located in the ancient city of Hebron

Arafat Mausoleum- a burial chamber of Yaser Arafat- the 1. president of the Palestinian Authority

Nablus- a historical city in a valley

Conclusion: I hope to wake up one morning knowing that the fight is over. Going to sleep every night with realizing that some people are not as lucky and secure as I am is the worst. If I could, I would wipe their tears and stop the bloodshed for sure. No one in the world deserves to suffer, and certainly not because of borders drawn on paper by people who are not even alive today.
The past has seen various genocides, and those against whom they are fighting today have also experienced it. Then my question is why, despite knowing the overwhelming truth about human suffering, do you want to follow it in the future? Revenge will never bring freedom or satisfaction to your soul.
Those scary memories are a reminder of what gave us the coldest willies. We cannot say that we live in a time of democracy, prosperity, or freedom until it is in every corner of the world. I aspired to show the beauty of Palestine so that we can all see why it is worth fighting for their happier tomorrow. The wounds will be arduous to heal. As my mom says, it’s always easier to screw something up than fix it.
Nobody who does these horrible deeds deserves admiration. Without support, these greedy egocentric people would often not even be in power. And it is up to us, voters, to not allow extremism to take control as long as we have the right to choose. Never underestimate the power of indignant citizens!
The whole world is watching. And millions of people stand behind you and pray for you, even from afar. One day the end of war has to come, but it depends on when and under what circumstances. Must the last brick fall?
You can burn to ashes every building, destroy every piece of their land but not their spirits and courage. The sad thing is that they have to go through the worst war to get to peace. For some reason, the war reminds me of the movie The Hunger Games and the cities from that movie destroyed to the last bit.
“I want to tell people that if you think for one second the Capitol will treat us fairly if there’s a cease-fire, you’re deluding yourself. Because you know who they are and what they do. This is what they do and we must fight back! You can torture us and bomb and burn our districts to the ground, but do you see that? Fire is catching! And if we burn, you burn with us!”- Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

Thank you for reading this article, I challenge you to spread love instead of hate! Even on the ruins, their flag will fly, and if this is not the strength of the nation, then nothing is.
